Have they the same obligations? What are the differences
:byzsoc:No, permanent deacons cannot “get married”. Once ordained they can never marry again, for example after being widowed (although there are some very specific exceptions, such as having young children to care for).Deacons can preach and read the gospel, and assist at Mass in a way a Nun, Brother, Sister, etc… cannot.
Nuns take the 4 vows! Deacons are permanent, or transitional. Transitional Deacons are going to be ordain Priests (please God) and Permanent Deacons are not going to be Priests, and can get married!
God Bless:byzsoc:
Deacons are ordained. There are three types of ordination - deacon, priest and bishop. Holy Orders is a Sacrament.Have they the same obligations? What are the differences
Yes, that’s what I meant, but I phrased it completely wrong. Thanks for correcting me!No, permanent deacons cannot “get married”. Once ordained they can never marry again, for example after being widowed (although there are some very specific exceptions, such as having young children to care for).
What is correct to say is that married men may be admitted (ordained) to the permanent diaconate.

Well not to quibble but monks on their way to becoming priests also go through the diaconate phase, and they are not in service to the local bishop but to their monastery.no
deacons are men and are ordained
nuns are women and make a religious profession, consecration, or vows depending on their order
some of their ministries may overlap, teaching, service etc. but nuns primarily find an apostolate in line with the charism of their order, deacons are at the direct service of the bishop, may officiate at sacraments of baptism and marriage, conduct funerals (which nuns and lay persons may do but under special circumstances) and make promises, not vows.
