Does anybody know the history/important facts/interesting things about the Dead Sea Scrolls?

or an accurate website? (no Wikipedia, please!)

And one other question-I was on this one website that stated

“The scrolls contain previously unknown stories about biblical figures such as Enoch, Abraham, and Noah. The story of Abraham includes an explanation why God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac.”

“Prophecies by Ezekiel, Jeremiah and Daniel not found in the Bible are written in the Scrolls.”

“In the Scrolls are found never before seen psalms attributed to King David and Joshua.”

Does this mean that some parts of the Old Testament were left out in certain writings? If so, would this render the Bible’s infallibility imperfect?

Hey Alex, to your last question, no. There are many prophecies from God which are not recorded in the Bible, in fact, the Bible often mentions people who were prophesying without recording what they said. And there are still true prophecies like Fatima, and St. Paul told us: “do not despise prophecy” (1 Thessalonians 5:20). And St. John told us: “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1). And I wouldn’t rule out there being true prophecies in those writings. In fact, it would be very interesting to compare some of those previously lost writings to the accounts of Blessed Sr. Anne Catherine Emmerich from her visions, which spanned history, since the DSC had not been found when she lived.

An interesting story about the DSC is how they were found. Some young Bedouin shepherds were with their flock and one of the sheep ran off and climbed down the side of the mountain - which is like a cliff! So one of the boys went after it and came to the mouth of one of the caves where the sheep went in. The boy was afraid to go in so he started throwing rocks in it to drive the sheep out and he heard one of the clay jars break - and the rest is history!

And this was just a year after the gnostic Nag Hammadi manuscripts were found. And that’s an interesting story too! A farmer and his sons were looking for good soil for their crops, good fertilizer - dung! And that’s what they found - Gnostic “gospels”!

And so Satan made his move, and God trumped him! The guy’s a born loser!

Anyhow, there are a lot of websites on the DSC but I don’t know what the best ones are - the scrolls are being studied and translated as we speak. So I’ll be interested to see if anyone else has more info on them too.

wrong forum
see sacred scripture
search on dead sea scrolls
you will find much more than wiki

here is wiki article
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Sea_scrolls

I heard or I saw on TV or I saw a blog on the internet is not a reliable source for info on canonical scripture, non-canonical writings or gnostic books

“I was on a website that stated” without a link and description of the site is also not a helpful way to introduce a discussion

No. It simply means that the writings you referred to which were NEVER inluded in the OT were recognized has having some value by whoever collected and copied the DSS.
