I wasn’t sure where to post this, but I am hoping this subforum can help. I posted about this on a fitness forum, but all they offered was advice in losing weight, and I need adive for something else.
I have recently started exercising to lose some weight. It is my goal to get to 10 pounds under my ideal weight so I can have some wiggle room when hubby and I are pregnant, and I don’t have to worry about my weight. Anyway…
As it is now, I am overweight and horrendously ashamed of it. I have always been a very trim athletic woman until I went through a sturggle with anorexia, now I am struggling enormously with being overweight. Funny how that works…at any rate, I have been exercising for 2 weeks now and have actually gained weight from this. I know this is normal, but…going to the gym is getting harder.
I go to my school’s gym where lots of really fit and far more attractive women exercise. I have noticed the guys checking them out while they exercise, and I am suddenly aware of how much bigger I am than they are. I am so paranoid working out, and when I slip into a modest 1 piece bathingsuit and hit the pool, it’s even worse. When I leave the gym, I leave feeling inadequate, embarassed, and that old fear of food creeps back into my heart. I’ll spare you the details on that.
How do I deal with people looking at me and judging me for how fat I am? It’s making me feel so trapped. I want to exercise and lose weight, but I feel like I can’t go to the gym until I lose enough weight to not be a freak.
