Sometimes I look back on my childhood, to the those in my family who once were alive and whom I recall being so loving and involved in my life, and I realize, they’re gone.

I no longer have that love. Instead, I’m left with the family who is indifferent and who never reaches out to me no matter my efforts. I just wish God would have not taken the ones who were truly there for me. I don’t understand why.

I guess that’s just the way it is. I have lost a lot of my loved ones including my husband. Sometimes I feel as if I have been abandoned with no one to talk to.

I told my sister, who lives in another state, that if I died in the back yard and the police go by the house, and discover me dead, they wouldn’t know what to do. Who they gonna call? Ghostbusters!

I may not die in the yard, though, so if I died in my house, it would really cause a stink in the neighborhood.

I am in the same situation as you. There have been some kind, loving people in my life that are no longer there. When I feel their loss, first I pray for them, then I have to consider that this is my time. This is when I get to be that person who loves someone, who lends an ear to listen, who gives a hug to someone who is going through a ruff patch. It’s our turn to be that loving person to someone.

My neighbor who was a retired lady used to keep an eye out for the lady across the street. They had a deal that they would watch for each other, that they would look at the front window for draperies to be open in the day and closed for the evening. Be that neighbor for someone.

Having come to the Church later in life, I imagine that those loved ones who have died were up there praying for me.

I wish I could feel them near. I appreciate what you said. Ty and God bless

You have the love of God and the Blessed Mother. When I feel alone and sad I just remember that they are here for me and love me. I lost two brothers and a sister and I never even knew them. You also have the Saints to turn to, they know what you are going through and intercede for you everyday.

Same. In my family I was only truly close to my mother and I lost her last year. I do think this happened so I could develop better relationships with the others left behind. Just remember sometimes some of your purgatory happens on earth. And OP you have that love. It’s just in a form you cant see day to day in the same way

Try to remember that God is the bigger part and author of that love and he will fill you full of that love if you want it. You have a family in the church like all of us here too
