Dealing with the public frustrations

Thank you, I know exactly where you are coming from. We were raised to work hard, take care of the company and it will take care of you. In the modern world though, working hard is rocking the boat in most cases, people would rather be retired on the job, clock in and out, and call it good, not thinking about the well being of the place they work for. What they don’t realize is that their positions in theory should advance as the company advances. The catch here in many cases though, especially if you are working for a large corporate chain, they opt to find someone that’s willing to work for a lesser wage to replace you, not even thinking about the productivity you as a hard worker are producing.

To elaborate, I’ve worked at places where the owner was desperately needing motivated employees, and after taking the initiave and given the freedom to improve effiecency, ended up being able to lighten their load on payroll because the bench warmers were no longer needed. At the same time, I’ve dealt with doing this at the bottom of the ladder, only to find, that since I was the first person to take the job seriously, they did not want to advance me, for fear that they would have to go back to the way things were because I was no longer in that position.

Indeed…this is yet one more reminder of the fallen nature of Man. Try as he might, he is forever ravaged by Original Sin. That’s why I love teaching. Once I close my classroom door to start teaching, *my *world blossoms, and the World of Man remains on the outside, until the end of the period.

KingAlfred, I’m happy there are teachers like you still out there, they are a rare breed these days, especially in the public school system.

I look back at the teachers I’ve had, and only a few stand out in a big way, the rest were just there to do their job, or to push their own personal agenda’s on the kids. I remember a music instructor that used to compose original sheet music based upon the current modern music scene and transpose it for us traditional band members to use, that alone took alot of initiatiave, for he could have just pulled what’s off the shelf as the others did and called it good. What stood out most was the fact, he honestly cared about each one of us, and I recall him being there to listen to me while I was struggling with my disfunctional life and dealing with my disfunctional relatives. The guy used to lose his temper, and he felt really bad about it afterwards, yet us band members had to hold alot of restraint, not laughing in front of him since his tantrums were quite comical. I talked to him years afterwards, and he expressed his regret for having lost his temper, but I very much assured him that none of us took him seriously when he did, that what mattered most was clearly he cared about us.

I remember a history teacher that actually figured out I learn best simply by listening to the lactures while drawing pictures in the back of the classroom, I always did quite well when it came to testing and he realized that I learn things in a different manner then route. So this ones understanding stood out from the rest.

I remember the art teacher and I going back, exchanging jives and wise cracks constantly, some of them became quite amusing, he was trying to get me out of my shell, and he did not just hand me an A just because I had a clear aptitude for art, for he pushed me to strive for excellence and didn’t just hand me the high grades just because I had talent. What I do for a living now very much requires artistic skills and I’ve found, we artists as adults play a big roll in society for we create the face of most of what we see.

Teachers form the backbone of society, for their influence creates a huge impact for the student throughout their entire lives. It is great you recognize that and can put away the pettyness you face with the politics to the side, knowing full well the importance of your position is profound.

Hey, thanks. That was a great read and very motivating. Looking back on my youth, I remember a handful of public school teachers who had a big impact on me. It was in college when everything came together, intellectually, so to speak. Good memories.
