I, for one do not give a rats dorsal part about what any other country, especially their journalists think about our country.
The truth is, that there is a huge waiting list of people wanting to immigrate into the USA, guns and all!
It is all well and good for the anti-gun people to compare deaths by firearms in the US to those in the UK and other English speaking countries. But why not compare all induced deaths by all means- knives, clubs, beatings, etc. I think you would find that the US has a lower violent death rate per 100,000 than any of the countries you site.
However, there is no arguing with idealogs! All of you are convinced that you posess the arcane secret knowlege of the universe, and society would be perfect without guns!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Bah!

Guns don’t kill people!

Pressure Cookers kill people!

We need to demand background checks on Assault Pressure Cookers!

Nuff said.

Dear Robert Sock,

YOU have a problem with guns.

Not America. And I don’t care if “everyone” thinks America has a problem with guns.

If you do, why not go elsewhere?

🤷

Hear Hear!! Well said! The Yakuza use blades to kill people! The young, the skillfull and the strong then **rule! **

The gun is called the 'equalizer’ for a* mighty* good reason!

A lot of mis-information too.
For one thing, the tables and graphs need to start in the year 1800!

They are skipping over a lot of historical context, which is absolutely vital.

When you consider the hundreds of years of American history and the thousands of years of European, Chinese, and Japanese history, with their constant wars and warlords, the current years are a tiny blip at best.

Europe has been pacified to the point that their population is imploding.

The European fertility rate is half of the rate needed merely for maintaining the current population. By 2050, Europe will mostly cease to exist.

And for nearly 100 years militant atheists in Russia controlled what used to be the USSR and half of Europe and still controls China.

The USSR would still be in control if not for the inherent economic weakness of Communism and if not for the joint efforts by Pope John Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, and Ronald Reagan … read “Victory” by Peter Schweizer.

In Russia, things are so hopeless, that the men drink themselves to death by the age of 60 and the women sell themselves into the human trafficking trade hoping for a better life.

Is that the system you admire? Militant atheism emanating from Russia? Or the militant atheism emanating from the French Revolution and the killing of thousands of Catholic priests?

And you think America has a problem with guns?

Sure, just looking out for Robert Sock’s peace of mind! The door coming in swings both ways; anyone is free to go to another country to live if this one doesn’t suit one’s viewpoint.

It doesn’t seem to be something the Church teaches though.

The article is uniquely poorly written, regardless of the nationality of the author or of the magazine itself.
I thought the graphs alone were telling. Anyways, I found it to be very informative myself.

Switzerland’s murder rates are lower than most countries that ban guns, such as England or Canada. The discussion needs to be much bigger than whether gun ownership is allowed, it should include how a society educates its people about guns, how their culture appreciates and respects them (in a healthy way), etc.

The graphs were MIS-informative … they were cherry picking data … over a period of a few hundred years or a thousand years [of European history], those ten year and 20-year graphs are worthless … a mere blip in history … data in total isolation.

At the least, they could have gone back to 1935 with Hitler and Stalin battling it out!

OR, how the United States!!! defeated the Nazi’s in Europe and then after World War II sent food to Europe to keep the Europeans from starving death until they could get their agricultural system working again. AND THEN, we defeated the USSR and liberated Eastern Europe!

You DO remember that? Right?

The Berlin Blockade of 1948? Defeated by the Berlin Airlift?

And the Berlin Wall? YOU DO REMEMBER THE WALL!! Right??? [Say, yes, you do remember those things.]

AND … TODAY … [YES, TODAY] … the Russians use Chechens to do their dirty work for them domestically and when carrying out things like human/drug/auto trafficking… there is even a Russian-ethnic (meaning, non-Chechen) “gang” in Moscow that is controlled by a couple of oligarchs and the Putin crowd.

Ethnic Russians are fleeing to the United States, guns and all!

Isn’t most of their gun ownership attributed to their military, who are issued guns that they keep in their homes?

So, they need to search the past until they find something to support other than current times?

It’s called telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

VERSUS “cherry picking” and then saying that that’s the truth.
