I heard people mock the Christian idea that all babies who die go to Heaven.

They ask, why not just support abortion or kill babies (and children below the age of accountability) to allow them to go to heaven and demolish any chance of Hell for them? how is this any different from the Old Testament where they slaughtered the infants etc?

They mention that according to some of the best Christian apologists, God commanded the slaughter of infants to allow them to go to Heaven.

They also mock the sacrament of confession, regarding why not just kill the people who just finished their penance acts.

Looks like we are caught in a bit of a trap here.

So, can anyone help me out on this one? I know I’m probably not very bright for asking this question. Thanks!

Well, I don’t know where you have encountered this particular argument as I cannot say I have ever seen it anywhere.

But, to answer your question, your premise is not correct. The Church does not teach that unbaptized infants automatically go to Heaven. The Church teaches we may hope they do.

The rest of the argument regarding killing people coming out of the confessional is nonsensical.

Who is caught in a trap? Those that murder innocents surely will not go to Heaven unless they repent and confess their sins and I bet there will be plenty of purification for them to be cleansed of that deed.
So unless you find heathen willing to loose their souls in order to send people to Heaven I don’t see how WE are caught in any trap.
