Death penalty for child molesters?

This morning I heard about the members of an internet group which was showing live acts of child abuse and molestation. Several people are presently in custody. I heard that 9 of them were U.S. citizens. Some were British, some Australian, and some Canadian as well.
I am finding it extrememely difficult not to hope for the death penalty for these people. I know that the Church has a humane stance on punishment. A stance with which I usually can agree.
I work in child welfare. These children to whom these horrors are done are damaged beyond belief. And yes, I do believe God in His mercy can help them become whole. I pray everyday for the little ones whose lives have been torn apart for this predators.
But as for the perpetrators of this abuse I feel an immediate and particular feeling. Revulsion. And my training tells me that it is likely most of these predators will never change. They are broken souls. Many so broken that they can scarcely be called humans anymore.
I only wish to know they are tried, judged and executed swiftly. I am not concerned with justice or mercy for them. **I know this is ** **not how I should feel. ** I am praying about my feelings and ask your prayers as well for me and the whole horrible situation.
 
Honestly, part of me wants those sick scum to die…its a disgusting depraved…oh it makes my blood boil hearing that people actually do this…but then again, I always question myself. Do I really wish death on anyone? NO. I doubt that this sickness is an actual “sickness”. But Jesus taught us that only He shall be the judge, so I can’t say the death penalty is fair.
 
I don’t really know much about paedophillia as an orientation, but I strongly believe that many paedophiles have some sort of psychological problem, frequently steming from abuse themselves. I believe that Paedophillia is not in any sense a legitimate orientation, due to the non consential nature of it, also the dangerous implications it has, and therefore, rather than wanting these people to die, we should rather want to help them. This is something that always makes me feel some what sorry for the person, whilst it is disgusting, imagine being plagued with this problem - even those who may want to try and seek help are rejected as outcasts and investigated by the police - it is a rather sad state of affairs.

As for punishment, no, the death penalty should not be used, I do not agree with the death penalty in any instance, and thus do not think anyone should receive it, not paedophiles, not Sadam, not Bin Laden, not Hitler - nobody. It is not as hard to hold these views as you may think 😛

Well just to be different, I say kill them all. Summery execution for all the members of NAMBLA. :mad:
 
I say solitary confinement in a cell for the rest of their days… a whole lot worse than the death penalty …
 
As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can completely and honestly say that I would prefer not to see these pedophiles get the death penalty.

I think they should be locked up like caged animals until their days come to a natural end… No going to the prison library, no going to the prison workout center, no going to the lunch room, no going ANYWHERE. I want them all to sit in their little cell and comptemplate what they have done 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I want them to have to deal with the consequences of their actions EVERY DAY for the REST OF THEIR LIVES just like their victims will suffer and need to deal with the consequences of the abuse for the rest of their lives.

The death penalty is too easy.

If the news story I saw this morning is the same, it said that the youngest victim was under 18 months old. :mad:

Who could do that? My heart goes out to all innocent children that are abused- sooo heartbreaking.

Instead of the death penalty, I my hope is for all people who commit heinous crimes like this to come to a point of self-realization while still on this earth. I want them to feel true sorrow for their victims and come to beg God’s forgiveness.
 
I really have more of a problem with the concept of life imprisonment for life than execution.
Often people who would not dream of being for the death penalty in any situation are for much crueler methods of punishment.
I see life without parole without privilege of any human comforts to be much less humane than execution.
And there is the almost inevitable parole situation in most cases. Say one of these criminals does get life imprisonment. Life is defined as approximately 30 years. And they can get time off for “good” behavior. Then they are out on the streets again looking for children to rape and terrorize.
Many will say that besides that the death penalty is not a deterrent. True it is not. For predators like these there is NO deterrent. They are not deterred until they are dead.
Incarceration in an institution for the criminally insane for the rest of their lives. Having to take medication to keep them docile enough to live within those confines. That sounds worse than death to me. That sounds like inhumane treatment.
My inclination, for which I asked prayer, is to try, sentence and swiftly execute them. Until we truly have a humane way to deal with them.

I always thought that, prison is almost removing basic rights, it is taking away your freedom, I mean the DP alwaysseemed like an easy way out.

Oh there was one like that in England, it was horrible, I was truly disturbed, the child was a baby - that truly is terrible.

They still have the choice to ACT on these impulses. If they don’t, then they are a HUGE DANGER TO SOCIETY AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS SUCH UNTIL THEY DIE!! They cannot be rehabilitated!!

Unless you yourself were never a vicitim of a sexual predator.😛 It may not be as easy to hold these views as YOU think.

I say life in prison with NO PAROLE under ANY circumstances, not work release, not anything that would ever put them in contact with another child EVER. BUT if they were executed, nary a tear would fall from my eyes except for the children and families they poisoned with their evil ways. It would be a fitting end.

But regardless of my opinion, it is our duty to protect the children of our society from these predators, and the only way to do that is to REMOVE THEM PERMANENTLY from society.

REHABILITATION IS NOT POSSIBLE … and even if it was, the risk is too great … When the average victims of ONE pedopheliac numbers in the 150’s, the risk of damage to a large number of children is too great to coddle to their “rights.” Thier damage goes far beyond the victim, to the potential and actual life they left them with… the future spouses and children of these wounded souls, and their impact on society.

I HATE THOSE PEOPLE I HOPE THEY DIE … I hold dear the verse that speaks of God’s vengeance on those that scandalize His little ones … “it will be better that a millstone was cast around their neck” …

They do far worse than murder their victims … the death penalty is letting them off lightly.:mad:
 
I know a solution that would free our prison cells … and prevent them from hurting any more children …

Agreed on the castrating! I do believe pedophilia is a physical and mental disorder but it causes so much harm and is so disturbing and wrong I find myself having no pity. I’d rather them think about it every day in jail than have them get off easy with the death penalty. Physically, it’s unnatural to be attracted to kids younger than 18th months! That’s very disordered, in my opinion more so than homosexuality, because they should not be viewed sexually at all. Mentally, being able to do this shows that you have something wrong with you. I do agree that for people who legitimately seek help for what I do believe is an attraction that’s very real are automatically labeled sickos even if they don’t act on their desires. The whole subject infuriates me though, what they do to these kids.

It’s a great thing to hope for … but don’t hold your breath.:rolleyes: These people are monsters. I have only seen one that I have any respect for … he was on Oprah … he willingly had himself castrated, at his own request.
Way to go, guy.:clapping: He is the ONLY child molester I would have at my table. And I would have him at my table.
 
I actually have a more creative solution.

Amputate their arms at the elbows and tattoo their faces with large black letters, AOP–Adult Offender Pedophile.

They’ll have a real tough time getting close to any child then.

Believe me, I’m not holding my breath. The only way I can possibly stay focused on Christian values when thinking of those people is praying that they will come to see themselves and what they’ve done in every heinous detail. Whether that is realistic or not, that would be the absolute worst punishment I could imagine for them, but offers hope for redemption.

My mom said the same thing. One major problem is, however, is that a 20 year old who has sex with a 17 yr old could be considered a pedophlie, or someone who stupidly pressured a girl into having sex in hs but ended up being charged with rape, people who aren’t likely to be repeat offenders because it was just a dumb decision could have their lives ruined because of these laws.
