not all abusers were abused as children , as a survivor of abuse i do know some go on to abuse, one of my brothers went on to abuse his own children , when i found out , i told the police , he was sentenced to prison , he cannot harm any more children because he killed himeself , and some of his victims are glad he did, what i cannot understand , how some one can go onto abuse after being abused themselves, yours michaelmacI have a very good idea of what goes on. That’s why the Philippines has an even wider coverage of crimes covered by the death penalty. Moreover, in the Philippine justice system, sentences are mandatory, unlike in the US, where you have penalty phases of the trial. Here, if you’re found guilty of child molestation and have no mitigating circumstances, you will be sentenced to death immediately after conviction. If the judge decides to be “compassionate” and imposes life in prison, the Supreme Court will censure the judge and impose the death penalty itself.
And this is precisely because of the reasons you cited. Child rape very often is an ordeal worse than death. In the US, about the only people executed are killers, but not rapists or pedophiles.
