A few days ago my Dads Sister died. There were 17 of them she is number 16.

I never saw death happy like I do today. My Dad always said when I was little when a child is born you should cry, his suffering begins, and when the child dies you should rejoice, celebrate. dance, sing, be happy.

I see it now. I see death as life but only backwards. When we come into this world we are a baby, but when we leave we go out usually, older, wiser. We let go. I see now his Sister so happy seeing all her brothers, sisters, mom, dad, and Jesus. What a trip huh!!

ANd now in the next world there will be no anger, hate, resentment, because you see what is important, what rich was. Family, love togetherness. There will be one more death and then the circle for that family will be unbroken. They will be back where they started. But in a much better world, happier, eternal bliss. And we will all be there soon.

There is a judgment. Whether our death, or more accurately, our eternal life is joyful or horrible will depend on the outcome of that.

You’re correct in that bodily death is a transition from this life to the next. The death or suffering preceding it may be very unpleasant, but there comes a time when the soul departs. What happens next is judgment.

Our ultimate fate is sealed then.

Well I’ve always been kind of odd when it comes to this topic. When I was a protestant I would say that I wanted a PARTY thrown with sports mascots and everything because I was going straight to heaven. Now that I’m Catholic I think the party can wait until after the funeral. But seriously I just veiw death as the next stepping stone. I believe with the help of the church and the sacraments that I will be on my way to heaven (hopefully no pitt stops, but who knows) and I really would not want the people here sad for me. I would want them happy. But then again I am 24 and I might be about 50-55 pounds over weight, but I’m in pretty good health, so God willing I have plenty of time left on this planet.

yes I guess I should have put it another way. Death of the body, but life of the soul! Hopefully if we die into eternal life, I guess thats the bliss I am talking about!

“All things must pass.” My own death really doesn’t matter to me. For **selfish reasons **I want my father and wife and brothers and sons to live on and on in this world because I’d miss them if they died. But really, it’s doesn’t matter. Only the body dies. Like a snake shedding its old skin. It’s still the same snake. I believe that when I die, my soul will live on in its subtle body and it’s still me. I’ve known Christians and Catholics who are frightened by the prospect of their own death, and I can’t understand that. They weren’t afraid of everlasting Hell, they were just afraid of being dead – which the never happens to the soul, which is what is really us to begin with.

Death, for us who remain, ends the story of a life. Having ended, we can think of a life in its fullness.

Death before its time is shocking. My neighbor died very recently. I knew she had health problems, but she was proud and would never let them be seen. In the end, her body gave out. She was not so old, and her wishes to have no funeral or memorial was hard to take.

My own death will come in time. I am happy to meet my God, and I rely on his grace and mercy. Nothing I do qualifies me for admittance into his presence. I take comfort in purgatory and in God’s grace, and in the redemption of the world by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. May he forgive me my sins, and nestle me in his arms.
