Why would montanaman agree to debate his own Religion with an obvious enemy of his Church when the montanaman says he is weak in understanding the Jewish Religion.

To me, it looks like the Jew has montanaman on defense Before it begins. Turn the tables, let the topic of debate be some area of Jewish faith.

Such as,“I contend that the OT Jews had a belief of purgatory - they just didn’t use that Latin word for it”. Since the Jew is likely poor in understading purgatory he wouild be on the defense before you started. That Jew may want to embarrace you. Please dont do this in public. You could be embarrased. Ask, what will you gain from this debate?

I have to say that I do find the idea of debating Papal infallibility odd, in and of itself - rather like discussing what is one’s favorite stripe on the flag.

As to the Catholic Church and its members’ attitudes to us, from the point of view of this particular Jewess, the important thing is that the Church, at least, has learned from its mistakes. The anti-Jewish passages of the Christian scriptures, of course, is something nobody can do anything about.

Here are some good books to read first:

And most important,

You can search the web for cheaper prices but there is a description at these sites on these books. Also look at the Comming Home Network for Jewish conversion stories.

Never forget, Jesus was a Jew! How could we possibly hate them?

No fear, guys, it wasn’t bad. I quickly did a humility check and categorized the things I knew and the things I didn’t know. That was instrumental in defining Catholic beliefs for him. He’d ask questions, and I’d answer them without hesitation. The debate was pretty shallow, though. He didn’t make any wild claims and didn’t go on the attack.

I attribute that to my frightening intellect–he didn’t know who he was tangling with. 😉

If you ever would like to take on this guy, he hangs out at the Protest Warrior forums. forums.protestwarrior.com
