Hello all 🙂 🙂

Well, another month has passed.

I started trying to do both of these 5 months ago. By this Saturday, I will have finished 5 straight First Saturdays → so it’s completed.

By this Friday, however, I will have finished a grand total of 0 First Fridays. Not that I didn’t try – I did. But there was always something that prevented me. Anyway, even if I had completed 5, I would still have 4 more to go.

The thought hit me, however. I found this on the net, having heard it here before:

"According to a legend, St. Francis de Sales once had a vision of two ladders reaching up to Heaven. One ladder was very steep and difficult, while the second ladder was shorter and much safer, and he noticed that this ladder was held by Mary. In the vision St. Francis de Sales heard Jesus say, “Tell your people to come to Me by this ladder, by way of My Mother.”

The foregoing ties illustrates the theme of “To Jesus through Mary”.

Getting back to the First Fridays/Saturdays, my point is that “To Jesus through Mary” is also kind of reflect this → it is far easier to complete the First Saturdays than the First Fridays…

Ok, make time if you can, everyone, if not to Jesus directly, then to Jesus through Mary !! 🙂

🙂 Well, I’ve already got the First Friday under the belt for this month (it’s a time zone thing don’tcha know 😉 ) and I’ll have a couple of chances to get to Mass tomorrow, so God willing I’ll take part in First Saturday too 👍

Ahh, climbing both ladders at once… With God all things are possible 😃

I think, after finishing today, I will really focus on the First Fridays. Keep persevering, LilyM…

Due to my work schedule, I am not able to make first Fridays. I plan on going to first Saturday tomorrow, however. It will be the 3rd month, so only 2 more to go after tomorrow!

Oh that is nice. I just finished one set of First Fridays. Started a new one today. But we do not have First Saturday here anymore.😦 I really miss it. So I have completed 0 First Saturdays for the last eight years. Unless trying to observe it at home and then going to Mass on Sundays counts? I don;t know. So you know what? When I found out that the Church does not operate according to my schedule, I just started subbing with the Little Office of the BVM and worked my way up to the Big Office. Now I pray the Office for her feastdays for Saturdays.

Is the problem that there is no mass on Saturday where you are? Or am I missing something? I was doing this completely on my own…

Did the Saturday as well - 2nd month I’ve done both and feelin’ pretty darn good 🙂

Would you be able to get to a Saturday afternoon/evening vigil mass? Even if the readings aren’t for Saurday, the Mass would still fulfil the requirement for the First Saturdays devotion …

This is what I’ve done in the past, too.

There is no mass on Saturday here.

I went to a local chapel at the Queen of Peace in Sioux City, for my devotion today. We said the rosary, said the mass, and had eurcharistic adoration afterwards. It was a great way to start off advent! I’m going to get ready to go to confession in just a little bit.

If any of you are ever in NW Iowa, you have got to go see the Trinity Heights Queen of Peace. Give me a call and I’ll give you a personal tour! 🙂

Yes it is! You can see it from miles around. And they also have an equally huge statue of Jesus! It’s really cool, too. You can see it from the chapel window behind the altar. They have probably close to 100 smaller statues of Mary and several other saints, too. The gardens around it are absolutely beatiful, too. They also have a life size carving of the Last Supper that a local craftsman made in his basement, and donated to the St. Joseph’s center. It’s just amazing. You’ll have to come visit us, LilyM, and I’ll take you up there!

The readings for today - from Rev.22, about the Tree of Life, that bear fruit , Twelve times a year ! …

While the Tree of life is also understood as The Eucharist, (with its promise of immortality and which God in His mercy, did not want our first parents , to consume , in their fallen state), there is the mysterious refernce , to the ’ twelve times a year , once each month …’

In God’s Church, guided by The Spirit , we come to marvel… that this month - special for its awesome joy of The Fruit of The Womb …🙂 , we are also invited to rejoice… that The Church - The Tree of Life , has also grown … bearing The (special) Fruit - of the First FriI-Sat devotions … twelve times a Year … and all the special graces promised with it !
