Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Advent vestments are purple to remind us that it is both a season of penance as well as joy in expectation of the Coming of Jesus. We celebrate the Birth of Jesus on Christmas, His First Coming as Incarnated Word Made Flesh to save us but the Church reminds us that while we have been forgiven in Baptism and in the Sacrament of Confession (also called Penance and Reconciliation) we are continuously called to ongoing conversion from sin and to grow in holiness. Advent not only remembers His First Coming but that He comes every day and will have a Final Coming at our death and at the world’s end.
Today is the First Friday and another reminder that our sins have caused the Lord to suffer much. In His appearance to St. Margaret Mary He said:
May the Heart of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored and loved, at every moment in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. For more on this Devotion see HERE

Let us take some time today if it is not possible to participate in Mass and to receive Him in a Holy Communion of Reparation, to offer Him a “spiritual communion”. Ask Him to come into our hearts spiritually since we cannot receive Him sacramentally, and offer Him loving reparation for our sins and the sins of the whole wold.
