Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This article was on Cathlic.net and it was encouraging to read:
On December 10, a great act of reparation will be held in Mexico City to ask God’s forgiveness for all the sins committed in the country, especially abortion.

This initiative of various lay groups, such as Mater Filius and the Center for New Age Research (CISNE), will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Blue Stadium.

On the event’s website, the organizers indicated that they want to " ask God’s forgiveness through the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary for all the offenses and sins committed against them by the Mexican nation, by our Church, by our rulers, for each one of us . "

The relief has a “special emphasis on the sin of abortion and begging God to expel from our nation the abominable law of abortion, for which more than 200,000 defenseless Mexicans have been murdered.”

“We will invite all the participants to consecrate their lives to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, to make in us and our families the Will of God in the fulfillment of the commandments,” they added.

At 9:00 a.m., they will begin activities with the recitation of the Rosary and then there will be a moment of animation, songs and testimonies will be given. At noon the Archbishop Emeritus of Guadalajara, Cardinal Juan Sandoval Iñiguez, will preside over the Eucharist.

At 1:30 pm there will be a procession with the Blessed Sacrament through Insurgentes Avenue to the Parish of the Most Pure Heart of Mary. During the tour there will be a group of brotherhoods and fraternities that will perform penance in reparation.

In April 2007, the Legislative Assembly of the then Federal District of Mexico, decriminalized abortion until 12 weeks of gestation.

The article was in Spanish and the English translation is a bit “stilted” but it is still good to read that Catholics in Mexico City are doing this.

I wondered the same thing, but as I said the translation was a bit “stilted”. I think the words “moment of animation” is an awkward translation of what may be a Spanish idiom. If you click on the link at the top for “Catholic.net” where I found the article the phrase in Spanish is “momento de animación” which can mean a “time of liveliness” i.e. following a “time of praying the Rosary” there would then be time for songs and testimonies. (At least that is the way I read it.)

It was encouraging to me that people in Mexico City realize how greatly offended Jesus and Mary are by the murder of children in 200,000 abortions. God help people in all the cities and countries of the world to see that same horror, wherever they are living, and offer reparation as well. Thanks for your reply.

Today is the Feast day of St. Juan Diego, to whom our Lady of Guadalupe appeared. Mary our Mother especially under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe is called upn as the protectress of the unborn.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Mexico needs prayer simply for the violence done by the drug cartels which are killing journalists, priests, law enforcement.
I do not know what the abortion statistics are in Mexico, but Mexico needs prayer for
so many things!
 
So, maybe a time for some Charismatics to do their thing? That’s cool! They don’t get enough love

Yes, Mexico needs prayer – and I would say ALL of us also need to offer reparation not only for our own sins but for the sins of the world. As Mary told the three little shepherd children of Fatima: “Pray for poor sinners and make sacrifices for them.”

It is an encouragement to me when I hear of lay persons involved in these Consecrations. Often Bishops are “moved to act” by the numbers of people who ask for these signs of devotion to Jesus and Mary.

St. Maximilian was so zealous a lover of Jesus through Mary, whom he called his “Immaculata”, I think St. Maximilian would be one who would love to hear many voices raised in song, and in fact join in singing. He might be the first to give testimony of the Holy Spirit’s work in his own life. I think whether he chose to speak or not, surely he would delight in hearing persons proclaim their love and witness to the power of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.

Personally, I tend to be more interior in my devotion than exterior, and I tend to dislike anything too “theatrical” but I pray this public Act of Reparation to be held today will be pleasing to the Lord and offer consolation to the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
