Ooook, so, a reccent hotly-debated thread round here has caused a lot of drama, but it also convinced me that I need to get my own act together before trying to get random stranger’s acts together.

So, I’m pretty much a lifelong depressive, anxious, OCD mess, and I’ve finally decided I need to grow a pair and get help. I’ve finally decided to call the local area mental health and get an appointment. I’ve finally decided to get over my issues and try to move forward.

Just one problem.

I’m too scared to pick up the phone :crying:

Anyone else been n this situation? How did you man up and finally do it? I swore last night I’d do it today, but now that;s it’s today, I’m freaked out like crazy. I don’t know what y issue is, I don’t know what to say to the receptionist, I’m just…lost.

You don’t need to tell the receipontist anything. Only keep them on a “need to know” basis.

Call and say, “I am looking to speak to someone about some mental health issues.” If they ask, than tell.

I’ll be back… MAKE THAT CALL MISTER! 😉

BUT I’S A MISSY!

Oh, that’s coniving, dirty and underhanded of you…but it’s kinda working, I gotta admit. I need to just suck it UP and call.

Ok, ok, I’m gonna try again. See if I can get past the area code this time 😊

Just say, “i need to make an appt as soon as possible”
You’re so young, get help now! It’s easier to get help when your younger, b/c when you get older, life gets in the way:)

LOL… UGH… go ahead… call me clueless… I’m used to it… 😊 (sorry!)

I knew you were a girl… I’m just… uh… yeah, working mother of 3 kids qualifies as clueless, right?🤷

So… have you called yet? 😉

Yes, Em, I called. I felt like piddling on the carpet in fear, but I called. The receptionist was very nice, took my info, made sure i wasn’t gonna go jumping off a cliff, and I just need to get my work schedule for next week to make an appointment.

I need a Dr pepper after this, darn it.

And yes, having 3 kids is MORE than enough excuse l)

dear shondrea,

i’ve been checking in a while to see if you’d made the call.

in AA, we named that deep, hesitant dread “calling for help on the ten thousand pound telephone.”

i hope you made the call. and if you did, dontcha see? the phone didnt really weigh ten thousand pounds. but your fears did— UNTIL you make the call. then they get a lot smaller.

God is with you. so is your guardian angel.

oh cool! good for you!!!

now, keep us posted and we’ll support you in prayer and accountability to make it to the first appointment, too.

a coupla rousing choruses of “that’s what friends are for” seems in order!!

That first phone call is the HARDEST one… it’s cake from here. 😃

GOOD WORK and GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Things WILL get better, you DO have a beautiful and happy future ahead… taking care of yourself is the first and most important step!

Go enjoy your Dr. Pepper (elixir of the Almighty!)… you’ll be in my prayers! 🙂

It was ten thousand pounds and covered in skin so soft. I can’t stand the feel of skin so soft o,0

I dialed the first 6 numbers, like, 12 times, and the phone then kept ringing…and ringing…and ringing…and I near hung up.

But you’re right; I DO feel a little better. Still scared insert 4 letter explitive here -less, but I feel a little better.

God is with you. trust HIM.

so is your guardian angel with you. ask him to pray for your peace.

so are we in prayer. keep communicating.

I’m sure my guardian angel is on his knees, prclaiming, Thank you GOD, it TOOK her long enough! I had my work cut out for me, you know?!" 😛

Mi’lady- All of our Guardian Angels sit there, around tables, and say, "I can’t believe God put me with this one-::sigh::

My Guardian angel has an awful twitch they devoloped while looking out for me…that, and they probably had a alot more hair (doesn’t stress lead to baldness?)

Good job! :clapping: Now, MAKE AND KEEP THAT APPOINTMENT!! You can’t stop now, help is on the way. :knight2:

My best friend (aka, partner in crime) and I decided our Angels need the therapy as much as we do XD They spend most of their time behind us, telling us we’re being stupid, again, and wondering WHY, God, oh WHY did you give us the clumsy, accident prone ones with too much imagination?!

I’m heading down to get y schedule now, and will call first thing in the morning to make the appt
