It doesn’t really matter
How many sunsets I have seen
Nor the sum of the experiences
That makes me uniquely me
There is not set equation
To predict how I should be
Because I know about
The age box
And the limits that it sets
The lie is that my time has come
And gone and left and went
And I missed my opportunity
And my time is far well spent
old just keeps getting older
Until we learn how to forget

Obamacare is a political move to gain the womans vote. By pretending to pit Womans liberal rights against Republicans stance on morality of life.

I have to grant it to the President, this is a genius political “timing” move, if it works and the majority of woman who are the silent victims from this Obama care package end up voting democratic this year.

I pray the woman do not fall victim to these political tactics in order to get Pres.Obama re-elected, just because Obama’s campaign proclaims to be protecting Womans rights to kill her unborn child.

We have enough smart law makers who could of micro managed this Obama care package in a way that woman do not get used and abused in it for political gain.

I don’t think government should dictate laws to discount morality of life for political gains. Obama care is playing with fire.

Obama is declaring War on the morality of our nation which the Church upholds especially when it comes to the dignity of all life. His weapon is “Womans rights to kill her unborn” disguised from a his health care program.

Hi, MorningSong51,

Let’s not confuse the issues.Sounds like you are blaming the victim - those with the desire to uphold morality have been tainted because of the way insurance coverage is provided.

Now, concerning your comment about the health care bill not being well thought out … I think a number of people support this position. Start off with Rep Nancy Pelosi: usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2010/03/09/pelosi-pass-health-reform-so-you-can-find-out-whats-in-it. There are probably different degrees of ‘totally outrageous behavior’ from an elected official - passing laws that are not understood has to be pretty high on the list.

God bless
The opposition comes from the bishops of the Catholic Church who insist that contraceptive coverage not be forced on Catholic universities, hospitals, and social service agencies.

Yet as NPR reported this morning, rules requiring contraceptive coverage have been in force for years. On BNPR’s health blog Julie Rovner states, “The only truly novel part of the plan is the ‘no cost’ bit,” and includes an audio clip from an ACLU representative who adds “as a legal matter, a constitutional matter, it’s completely unremarkable.”

As Rovner explains:
In fact, employers have pretty much been required to provide contraceptive coverage as part of their health plans since December 2000. That’s when the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled that failure to provide such coverage violates the 1978 Pregnancy Discrimination Act. That law is, in turn, an amendment to Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which outlaws, among other things, discrimination based on gender.
Yes, Let’s not confuse the issues.Sounds like you are blaming the victim - those with the desire to uphold morality have been tainted because of the way insurance coverage is provided.

This is not about contraception. It’s about freedom of religion and freedom of speech. It’s a violation of your constitutional rights.

Correct, even though that the religious institution may not be required or are exempt from this plan, what about those who will be required to pay? This plan will not be a forced issue with the institutions, anymore - but now, will be on a individual conscience basis. However, we are facing the same dilemma. Yes, It is a freedom of our constitutional rights. This bill had all the backing from individual groups to include the religious institutions - so now, is everything fine?

The option should be on a individual basis and not a force choice. Each individual woman, even from a pro-choice/pro-life issue, ***should be given a right ***to choose - isn’t that the freedom of choice. That is, if I have the chance to opt out of the plan. Sometimes, when the pro-choice issue is on the table - then what is “each” individual’s choice?

The article that I had posted - and the woman who wrote it, indicated that the option to use contraceptives, and especially with today’s financial crisis, gives women the choice to use other methods in order so that the family would not suffer from more tough financial times, as these unplanned pregnancy would cause a burden on the family. Again, no one can speak or write for the women who might choose differently.

My niece has three children and on her way to having another child. Awhile back I had talked with my brother over the phone - as upset as he was - told him that it is the unplanned or unexpected children that are the most blessed. I remember this when my older brother’s wife had delivered one child and two months later was pregnant with her third, the third child - was a blessing from the start and the giving adult (now) and very much loved.

A right to choose is really a discussion that should be talked about and prepare between all members of a family and not a individual choice upon a woman, alone. However, if I give or other give into this health care plan, the chances for those choices might be more available - and not well thought out for other options.

Birth control, used for medical issues and not used to prevent a pregnancy is another issue that many Catholic women use - when these stats came out they didn’t exactly categorical list the reasoning’s why some religious women are using them.

Again, so that there is no confusion - my objections toward pro-choice movement on this health care bill.

Morning Song,

“Should” doesn’t enter into this. It’s gone way beyond that now. This is NOT about birth control or abortion. It’s about power and dominion.

It’s about whether Catholics can have schools, parishes & hospitals, soup kitchens and food banks and retreats. It’s about whether CAF will be here next year or not. It’s about whether you can be Catholic or not. Do you understand?

The civil rights of Catholic are being taken away. Catholics are fighting for their very right to exist as Catholics.

I believe the Muslim religion is against birth control. Yet, I did not hear that they would
have to provide these services to their employees.

I believe it applies to them also. But we are far larger as a group in the USA than they are. We are about 25% of the population; they are less than 1% of the population.

Don’t know how much it matters anyway. This is about whether you retain your 1st Amendment right of religion. It really doesn’t have anything to do with birth control–that’s just the tool they’re using on us.

…we are fighting for our right to exist as Christians - along with Orthodox, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, and so on… Remember the posts that have been logged into some threads, “Is there a difference between Catholic and Christian?” and “Are Catholics Christian?” We are fighting along side our Christian brothers and sisters!

When we receive Jesus Christ into our lives, God declares us “not guilty” and he says that we are now “made right with God.” Our relationship with God has begun in a real way, where we no longer know God is “out there,” but instead we know that he lives inside of us. We have God’s forgiveness, a relationship with him. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

I believe the Muslim religion is against birth control. Yet, I did not hear that they would have to provide these services to their employees.
Correct they are against contraceptives. Muslim employers are not exempt - However, a couple of facts, and I’m not sure about the stats on this:
  • Consider these sobering statistics:
• Only 49% of businesses with 3 to 9 employees (the vast majority of small businesses) offered any type of health insurance to their employees in 2008, down from 58% less than a decade ago.

• 29% of employees at businesses with 25 employees or less were uninsured in 2007, and the number is certainly higher today.
  • To be sure, the PPACA does grant a number of exemptions from the requirement to purchase the “minimum essential coverage.” (Whatever that is — Health and Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius hasn’t yet defined it.) Prisoners, illegal aliens, and foreign nationals are exempt. In addition, there is a religious exemption. Under Subtitle F, Part I, Section 1501—the individual responsibility requirement to maintain minimum essential coverage—individuals must be “a member of a recognized religious sect” that doesn’t participate in Social Security. According to a January 2011 Heritage Foundation WebMemo, they must pay no Social Security taxes and receive none of the benefits, in accordance with Section 1402(g)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code. The religious exemption applies to any person who is a member of a “recognized religious sect or division” with “established tenets or teachings” that would forbid that person from accepting public or private insurance. Thus the Amish, who believe in taking care of their own elderly and don’t participate in Social Security, are exempt, as are Mennonites and Scientologists.
Matt Smith, president of Catholic Advocate, said instead of helping women, the Obama administration is taking a knife to the Constitution.
“This is a religious liberty issue and it’s something that is tearing at the foundation of our country,” he told CBN News.
An organization with the main purpose of sharing its religious beliefs, one that mostly employs and serves people of that religion, like a church, is exempt. But other religious institutions, like a Catholic university, must follow the rule.
Catholic hospitals and non-profits, like Catholic Charities, will also be forced to offer health insurance coverage for drugs and services that violate church teachings.
**Even if some employees don’t use them, their insurance premiums will be used to cover others who do. **

Hi, Gabriel of 12,

Our President has done tremendous damage to the Constitution he swore to uphold. But, do not forget, he could not have gotten away with this without the tremendous cooperation by members of the US House and Senate. The most encouraging news that I can give is that 270 days from now we have a chance to change things for the next 4 years. Please make sure you and all you know who are eligible - have registered to vote.

Obama voted repeated against infants born alive through an abortion attempt. factcheck.org/2008/08/obama-and-infanticide/ Yes, infanticide isn’t a nice word - and our President did all he could (and obviously in a successful manner) to conceal and then deflect any criticism for his actions. He never met an abortion attempt, effort, cause or group he did not support. The love his mother showed to him - has not been ‘paid forward’.

Our elected leaders deserve our prayers. The overall idea is that the Grace of God can turn the stone heart into a loving heart. Given these attacks on freedom of conscience and freedom of religion re the situation we will be facing for the next 9 months - it is in our best interest to honestly pray that God’s Will to promote life will prevail.

God bless

It’s not only about abortion; it’s not only about birth control; it’s not only about sex; it’s not only about morals. It’s about your freedom to be a Catholic in your own parish.

In the First Books of Kings, it is recounted that God invited the young King Solomon, on his accession to the throne, to make a request. What will the young ruler ask for at this important moment? Success — wealth — long life — destruction of his enemies? He chooses none of these things. Instead he asks for a listening heart so that he may . . . discern between good and evil. (cf. 1 Kings 3.9). Through this story, the Bible wants to tell us what should ultimately matter for a politician. His fundamental criterion and the motivation for his work . . . must not be success, and certainly not material gain. Politics must be a striving for justice. . . . Naturally a politician will seek success, without which he would have no opportunity for effective political action at all. Yet success [must be] subordinated to the criterion of justice, to the will to do what is right, and to the understanding of what is right . . . ‘Without justice, what else is the State but a great band of robbers?,’ as Saint Augustine once said . . .

In the Bundestag: catholiceducation.org/articles/civilization/cc0399.htm

A good read…

Obama’s not Solomon, MorningSong. Obama’s something else entirely.

The mandate is a violation of your religious rights and would damage your parish. How would that be? Please write to your congressmen or go to the USCCB site and sign the petition.

read the commentary from the pope, it is about what a good politician “should” understand and recorded history to the fact.

"We have seen how power became divorced from right, how power opposed right and crushed it, so that the State became an instrument for destroying right — "
