Sometimes when I play games online, people start religious debates calling Christianity false or calling it evil. I use all I know to fight them but they just keep saying the same “fact” over and over again but they just change it a little and corner me into where I can’t continue. Can anybody tell me something to help me if they start a fight like that?

Well, I can’t tell you how to support whatever you are arguing since you didn’t really give an example, but sometimes it is best just to stop the conversation because their way of thinking is so different that nobody can see your point, just as you can not see theirs. I know that we Catholics are right, but arguing with an atheist about faith is like building a house on sand. They do not accept the foundation of your argument. It is impossible to argue faith with someone that is determined that there is no right religion. They often want hard evidence that God exists. We can not provide such evidence to their liking. If you give me a specific example I may be able to help further.

If they start a fight like that, you should be passive and just tell them it’s their opinion

and you should respect theirs aswell.

Very true, the thing about religion, any religion, is FAITH. If you have faith, and your faith is strong, no opinion, no “fact”, will make you turn your back on it. So when they start flame wars on Christianity, and if you truely believe that your faith in Christ is right, then allow them their opinions just sit back, smile, and say a prayer for others to see the light firm in the belief that God IS real, that the Lord Jesus was God made man, and the He died for our sins so we may have hope of everlasting life.

God Bless

They start a fight, you may or may not accept the fight. If a dog barks to you you wont bark back!!!

Instead of fighting, MPO, I would ask what were the condition and rules of the fight: is it a fight to discover the truth or to vent frustrations? According to the rules, you either fight fairly or start barking at them as they do.

But to fight somebody with unequal arms, it is crazy.

Usually if someone starts a circular argument like that where they keep restating stuff I just point it out to them and end the conversation. Keep it polite, but let them know they are just using the same argument that you’ve already explained. After that there’s really not much you can do.

Some anti-theists have their minds so set that they will never even consider what you have to say. These people, sadly, aren’t worth arguing with. Only God himself could change their minds. However there are some atheists who are really willing to have a debate, and they might present their objections, which are almost always misunderstandings about God’s nature, or the faith, etc.

I’ve debated my agnostic-atheist friend from a game we play, but on a forum for the game, not the game itself. Using a forum is better because you have time to do research and reply. We’ve gone through the topics of invisible dragons, teapots rotating the sun, the problem of evil, the omnipotence paradox, “problems” with the Bible, and more, all of which have been refuted. He at one point admitted I’d made a case for deism…

His final argument was that the Gospels were written 50-100 years after Jesus (he even got the dates wrong, go figure) and that there were apparently “lots” of people who claimed to be the savior (yet he could not give me one example, let alone one example who was anywhere near as—I guess you could say, successful—as Jesus) and that there are other religions which could be true. I told him that other religions contradict each other, and truth cannot contradict truth, and that Jesus IS the Truth, (John 14:6). That pretty much ended that.

I’m considering showing him this, which seems to be the best scientific case for God’s existence that I’ve seen on the internet: godandscience.org/apologetics/is_god_real.html
The Republican, if these people truly want to have a civilized discussion with you, do it. But if they’re being immature about it, then don’t. Perhaps show them the link above. If you need any help, feel free to contact me.

Well like a recent thread someone started, she was calling Christianity evil and made up examples which were false, but hard to prove false.

Was it one of the comments that are so irrational that they are impossible to prove false? I love those…When it turns into these you just have to walk away.

It was one that said things that are drawn from random places and the source wasn’t there so it is just hard to disprove it.

Yep, I love those, too.😃 Yeah, you just have to end the conversation at that point. There just isn’t much else you can do.

God Bless!
