That depends what intentions of the person who have such questions are.asa student on a community college campus im frequenlty asked “how could you stand being a catholic? isnt it so corrupt?” and the various examples taht are given to me are the purcahsing of indulgences in the middle ages, the child molestation cases, and one ki told me about his uncle having to pay an exorbitent amount of money to get married. or the numerous crusades
my responce is "you cant blame an entire faith and religion for the sinns nd mistakes of a few’ but een to me now that sounds hollow how do you defend our faith against such attacks?
If the questions come from non-catholic christians then I would like to know why they believe in Jesus. Wasn’t he corrupt as well? He chose corrupt Judas and weak Peter as his disciples. He socialized with people ostracized by society and after all he died as a criminal. Catholic Church is 2000 years old and has more than one billion believers. I am certain that whatever sin or crime you ever heard of was commited by some catholics.
If you feel that the person is hostile towards Catholic Church I would not continue any discussion. Just prey for that person that he/she will find the way into the true church.
