C. S. Lewis made his liar/lunatic/Lord argument in Mere Christianity, and I listened to an Al Kresta tape that expanded on it beautifully, then I stole that example, morphed it into a trumpet-oriented example, and you’re just one more person to build on it. That’s the beauty of Catholicism - 2000 years of people building on each other’s ideas. We don’t have to know everything.
What I like is the fact that not all of these people (thinking of Clive and myself) are Catholic. To me, the value of Catholic reading lies in its catholicity: its universalism.

I know! I love that!

What kind of cruel parent would name their child Clive Staples? I thought it was Charles Stewart for a while, but then I found out that it was a different C. S., from a bit of local history. The Lewis C. S., on the other hand… oh, I see exactly why he used his initials. I can picture him saying “If I use my real name, nobody will take me seriously!”

Indeed, and so he called himself “Jack.” 👍

I have been looking for some comment on the provenance of his name, but have yet to find anything…
