After hearing horror stories about people urinated on the Holy Eucharist, how far should you go and what should you do if you see something like this happen? Should you tackle the person? Should you get between them and the Eucharist? Should you pick up the Eucharist? What would God want us to do?

We should pray that the Lord will have mercy on their soul after they defiled the Body and Blood. Christ himself asked God at the time of his beating and execution to “forgive them for they know not what they do”. I would equate the actions of the people floging and beating him at that time to those of the ones urinating on him today.

You should do whatever you have to do to protect the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our risen Lord Jesus Christ. There are early martyrs in the Chuch who died protecting the Eucharist in their care.

I second Catholic 1954.

If our Lord in the Eucharist is endangered in any way, it is our responsibility - no, our proud honor - to defend Him in any way necessary.

Just tell the person to stop desecrating the Eucharist. If the person doesn’t take your instructions, then tackle the person.

I once found the Eucharist in the holy water font after Mass, consumed it, and reported it to the priest so he could remove the water and dispose of it appropriately. He said I did the right thing.

Anyone who would urinate on the Eucharist probably has a few screws loose. I’d stay as far away as possible. Pick up the urinated-upon Eucharist? Uhhh…no thanks. Consume it? Now who’s crazy! Tackle the offender? Regardless of Catholic beliefs regarding the Eucharist, “he pissed on the cracker” would probably not be a defense to assault in criminal court.

It is not a cracker! It is the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus and it is to be treated with the uptmost respect. I don’t care what your religion is, or your lack of one. Can you not have respect for objects that are sacred to others?

Don’t get your knickers in a twist. My point was that a court is not going to care that you regard the Eucharist as “the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus” if you use that as an excuse for “tackling” some nut case who desecrates a sacred object.

I don’t think I would care what a court would believe. The only thing you could be charged with is maybe assault, and that’s probably pushing it. I’m sure a court would take into account someones religious beliefs in this case. Was the other person harmed? Most likely not. However, whatever the decision, I would accept it. Defending Jesus is more important than any jail sentence/probabtion/ etc.

If someone was urinating on your father would you stand idly by and let them do so?

Many agnostics have contempt for those who believe and/or their beliefs. I once was an agnostic, and “believe me,” I was intellectually superior to those superstitious, gullible believers.

Recovery from agnosticism or atheism is possible :D. Grace intervened. One minute I did not believe, another I did, to my shock and surprise. It was my own Damascus moment. Deo gracias.
