Hello,
How can I respond to the claim that, while Christianity began as hope for the oppressed that was ‘‘challenging the social order,’’ the Catholic Church of the Middle Ages made it a means to oppress people? No examples were provided to support such a claim but I suppose the speaker would cite the Inquisition, the Universal Church that wouldn’t let people ‘‘think differently,’’ the feudal system, ‘‘subjagation of women,’’ etc.
I know these claims are wrong, but I heard this recently and I was not sure what to say exactly.
Thanks!
