i know this guy (and no, hes not me) who makes jewelry, just like basic stuff hes just getting stated. but anywyas…knowing i was catholic he asked me if he took the corpus offa crucifix to put it on another one,(start with two different crosses, one with a corpus and one without. is he allowed to remove the corpus from the first one and put it on the second one?) is that wrong on any level? i said i dont know but ill find out. so now im here.any ideas?

thankyou in advnce
ps neither cross has been blessed (if that means anything?)

As long as he wasn’t prying the corpus off in some kind of spirit of defiance or affixing it to the other cross in some mocking position, I can’t see where he’d be doing anything wrong.

If the crucifix were a blessed sacramental, he would probably want to do some discussion with a priest. There are artists who restore sacramentals for people, so there must be some kind of guideline. But since neither cross has been blessed, I wouldn’t think there’d be any problem. Making religious art or crafts is a Good Thing.
