Church Militant:
Well…if you haven’t decided to post under your other name now! Didn’t think I’d make the connection with the similarity of posting styles and content didya;) Malachi_a_Serva?
You always make me laugh Church Militant, but you can just call me Simon(?) Whatever…

Anti-Catholic = Anti-Jesus

Anti-Protestasnt = Anti-Non Fullness of Truth

One is an act of hate.

The other is an act of love.
Anti-Protestant = Anti-Jesus

Anti-Catholic = Anti-Heresy

I could draw the same conclusions, All I wish to point out is, in either situation, love the heretic, hate the heresy. I know this has taken us all a long time to learn, and tame that “BURN EM AT THE STAKE” mentality.

And also, sometimes love sounds less than loving. Sometimes the harshest discipline has behind it the strongest love.

Can you find an article on who qualifies as an Anti-Protestant?

And then any article explaining how Anti-Catholicism is evil, while being an Anti-Protestant is good, would be great.

…
Well technically “protestantism” is being in protest of something, now isn’t it?

In this context that something is the Catholic Church.

Protestants protest the Church and the Church protests protestants’ protestation. (Say that six times fast… lol)

So it follows that intrinsically protestantism is anti-Catholic and Catholicism is anti-protestantism.

But we must discern between how a person is “anti” something, meaning taking an intellectual stand against, or merely belittling and misrepresenting the other side.

Colloquially, anti-Catholicism takes the latter meaning. Catholics should be anti-protestant, but in the intellectual sense, not in the hurtful, insulting, straw-man way, which I’m sure is the anti-Catholicism everyone here is talking about.

Well if “Anti-Protestantism” consists of Catholics who are:
* attacking protestantism as being un-Christian or a cult (in the pejorative and not the sociological sense);
* ridiculing or misinterpreting protestant doctrine or practice;
* ascribing to the protestant churches a sinister role in an anti-Christian or anti-American conspiracy;
* distorting or taking out of context illegal or scandalous behavior (especially sexual misconduct) by protestant clergy or laity,

then to the best of my recollection I’ve never met a Catholic “Anti-Protestant”.

Correct. The roots of Protestantism are in protesting Catholicism.

and the Church protests protestants’ protestation.
Incorrect. The roots of Catholicism are in Jesus’s building His Church on Peter and in handing the Keys of the Kingdom to Peter. Not anti-Protestantism at all.

There are wider definitions to Protestantism than simply its roots being in protesting Catholicism. So I would say: not necessarily anti-Catholic.

and Catholicism is anti-protestantism.
No. Catholic dogmas, in fact, got to be clarified because of heresies. The opposition had some benefit – though at a high price in moral and political chaos – for Catholics.

Friendly reminder: You are posting on a Catholic Forum. Calling Catholics heretics is in violation of the forum rules, especially considering the fact that the Catholic Church herself has been battling heresy for 2000 years. That’s how, for example, you got the word “Trinity” in your vocabulary.

If you have specific Catholic teachings that you perceive to be heretical, please start a thread asking about them. Better yet, invest some of the time and energy that you’re currently using to make false claims in learning what Catholics truly believe, not what Chick tracts say they do. Here are some handy-dandy resources:

Catholic Answers Library

The Catholic Bridge

The Bible Christian Society

Blessings,

This thread is one of the worst that I have seen a long time. Not that the topic itself is bad, but that it was so quickly derailed into personal exchanges.

I am instructing all who have posted on this thread that if you cannot post charitably concerning the topic of the thread, do not post on it at all.

This thread is now closed.
