From a philosophical perspective, what is pleasure? How do we define pleasure?

I know that Aristotle attempted to define pleasure. His thought was that it was tied to the desire for life or living.

I would assume pleasure would be connected to the desire for happiness.

Unfortunately, Websters Dictionary isn’t helping me by referring to gratification and then referring back to pleasure.

Anybody else want to take a crack at this before I abandon the topic?

I know it seems like a self evident thing, but from what I’ve read the topic of the definition of pleasure is one of the most difficult problems in philosophy.

Please, if anyone has any intelligent thoughts on this topic, I’d like to hear them.

I’ll post some links to topics that come close to the subject to show I’m not just trolling for arguments.

Please help, as I would like to formulate an answer to explain the CCC sections concerning marriage in a more precise way.
