I have been posting a lot since I joined this website and the answers I have received have helped me so much. so today I wanted to ask a question that has already been asked but the comments were split.
as someone who takes his faith very seriously which means I accept all the churches teaching. is it okay to go out clubbing for graduation I am 21 and did not go this year because I am focusing on myself. all my friends are none religious and go out clubbing every weekend. I am not planning and will not under any circumstance be kissing or grinding with any girl I plan on staying 100% abstinent until I marry a catholic girl I have also agreed with myself if I am dating someone I wont share the bed until after marriage in case something immoral happens that’s how serious I am about my faith. I can also handle my drink I am 6’3 so drink does not affect me like it would someone smaller.
I apologise if I have mumbled on I wanted to get the point across I am not going out to sin just have a good time for graduating my degree. thank you to all helping me grow as a roman catholic

If you’re of age to drink and not planning on getting drunk or engaging in other inappropriate behavior and can stick to those plans in the heat of the moment then you’re fine to go out and enjoy yourself.

There was a saint (cant remember then name) who was playing pool at a bar and was asked what he would do if he was going to die in the next 10 minutes. Most of his friends since he was so devote assumed he would run off to confession or the like.

He smiled and said: “I would finish my beer and this game, if my soul is not in order already 10 extra minutes of prayer would make no difference. Also I’m not sinning.” (paraphrasing)

is it okay to go out clubbing
You ask if it is a sin to go to a nightclub? What sin are you thinking that it might be? You must know that many people go to nightclubs without using alcohol or drugs or committing sexual sins.

I truly thought the purpose of clubbing was drinking and sex. If people aren’t drinking, doing drugs or on the prowl, why do they go?

I am in my 30s and have never heard of anyone clubbing for any other reason.

Umm … they go because they enjoy the music and like to dance.

Which you can do without getting wasted or being ‘on the prowl’.

I used to go to clubs when I was OP’s age (and younger). I liked to dance with my friends and have a laugh. All very wholesome, looking back on it!

I can assure you that there are people who go to bars and nightclubs without doing anything immoral. Of course, if they are an occasion of sin, they should be avoided.

There is nothing inherently sinful about going to bars or clubs or dancing or drinking alcohol. These are prudential matters.

if you are struggling with what is and is not a sin, you need to talk to your pastor, not strangers on the internet.

Weird.

My friends and I used to go to clubs every weekend, and we had so much fun dancing, laughing, playing pool or darts, talking with people. I lived in TX so we went to country-western clubs and had the best time two-stepping, waltzing, doing the polka, line dances, etc. I also went to more rock-pop oriented clubs and we all just danced in a big group of friends.

There is nothing inherently sinful about drinking in moderation (which we always did and always had a designated driver) or with dancing. None of us went there for sex and certainly not for drugs. I will say 3 of my friends met their husbands while we were out at clubs. I did not.

I think you are getting your ideas about clubs from movies and TV rather than from actual people who like to hang out with their friends, dance, laugh, and have a good time.

…they like dancing and hanging out with their friends…? Did you really think everyone who goes out on Friday night is doing cocaine and having sex with strangers?
