I heard that j23 in particular works with delayed vocations do most seminaries also or is it up to the ordinary? Do seminarians get options in attending a particular seminary or is it all up to the bishop? I know there are seminaries that are more orthodox and some that are not to steeped in solid teaching is there a seminary rating system or a good source for someone who is a delayed vocation?? Any advise??

A man entering the seminary has to be sponsored by a diocese or a religious order (depending on whether he is going to be a religious priest or a diocesan priest.)

Most dioceses and orders only have one or just a few seminaries they work with, so that’s where you would have to attend.

There are age limits for seminary freshman, but the bishops can waive the limits at their discretion for “delayed” vocations.

I am working with my vocation director and a spiritual director and meet with my bishop in a few weeks. I am a convert to the Church so I kind of feel like I am playing catch up with the movement of God’s Mercy and Grace. I just did not know how the seminary part worked since I know of men who go to different seminaries some to Rome some here in the US ect. Also does the spirituality of a man effect where the bishop send him ie would a third order carmelite tend to go to a more carmelite school vs. a benedictine or jesuit school or does that matter at all. See I am definatly a novice at this.
