Exorcism is not unique to Solomon, or to Catholicism. Pious Jews did indeed practice exorcism of evil spirits, demons and ghosts using a whole variety of means: liturgical passages from the Hebrew Bible, amulets, incantations, music, and what not. The practice continued throughout the Middle Ages and even exists, although much rarer, in modern society.
 
Poor choice of words on my part. I didn’t mean magical incantation or spells but chant based on the Bible. However, I believe that sometimes the name of the demon was uttered or chanted for the purpose of getting closer in touch to coax him out of the body: a more gentle touch in such rituals.
