John 20:29 - Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

I know it ain’t real physical evidence, but that is part of faith. Some people need to see, some people don’t. I am not really trying to create evidence, but this thread reminded me of that part of scripture. So I thought I would add to this and put my two cents.

I think religious experience is far more important. There will always be room for interpretation of experience but to the one having it, no arguments are necessary.

That is your interpretation. I have discussed this with atheists so many times. What seems obvious to me is simply my biased interpretation to them.
 
99% of religion is based on philosophical conjecture? No offense, but have you been reading my responses and many others’ to your other threads? Christianity is based on the historical reality of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.
 
Yes but I’m dense I’m sorry. I’m reading the case for Christ just got delivered today! I’m excited to read into the historical aspect. The issue I keep coming back to is looking for extra biblical sources cause if I wanted to start a religion there would be a religious text but I would expect to see results outside of it. I have learned Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny the younger all had references which I am amazed at though I still have trouble accepting the resurrection cause frankly the only proof we have is biblically. I’m sorry I meant no offense!
 
That’s my worst fear is I’ve let myself become so hardened I miss the very obvious signs of God. I’m praying though to have my stone eyes and heart softened!

On the plus side I finally read Peter Kreeft 20 proofs and ed feser explanation of Aquinas five proofs. I also read many of the conversion stories. I just need somehow to accept the Bible is legitimate and historical and that it’s ok if we don’t see many external references specifically to the resurrection.
 
Peter Kreeft did a great job of reciting those. Especially because the Romans could have easily quelled the Christians by producing a body!

How about 1 Corinthians 15:3-8? Not an “external” reference (in the NT obviously), but it is a historical letter, a valid document whose content/authorship are not in dispute.

"“For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters[c] at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.[d] 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.”

Most scholars date the creedal statement here to within 3-5 year of Jesus’ death.
