Deliver us, O Lord
Deliver us, O Lord, from a lack of the sense of the sacred.
From poverty of heart.
From those who speak in Your name, yet know You not.
From a lack of gratitude for Your many gifts to us,
thinking that these are ours, not Yours.
From a sense of self-aggrandizement, when things go well -
thinking that this is our own doing, and not by gift of Your grace.
From the thought that we “own” time - whereas the next breath
that we take, is pure gift from You - You intending our continued
existence, from moment to momement. Didn’t Reb Zusia dance -
rejoicing that God gave him his next breath? - that all creation dances before Him?.
Zusia joined the dance of all creation, giving Him thanks.
Deliver us, O Lord.
From all that confuses. It is hard to live in a world where You
are forgotten or denied or ridiculed, God. Protect our hearts.
From that which makes us anxious or afraid. All is in Your hands,
and in that is our peace of heart.
The spiritual, Didn’t God Deliver Daniel, speaks of His will to deliver each of us.
As God delivered Daniel, from the lion’s den, do You not deliver everyman, too?
