I don’t know what to do. I just read stuff from Saint John of the Cross on the Discernment of Spirits and it sent me reeling into these feelings of wrath discouragement and despondency. I don’t know what to do and I feel totally unstable.

I tried working on a devotional work of art, and the demonic oppression was unbearable and after reading the article it seemed that all the misery was indicative that I was doing what God wanted me to do, because the way of Christ is the way of the Cross. I suffer a lot from scrupulosity and mental instability, and I really wish I could talk to someone but I don’t know who I’m supposed to talk to.

Could you try something for me,
When you feel bad, and feel a demonic presence ,
Get really aggressive and tell this thing to F. Off and be Gone,
Then say out loud the Lords Prayer 3 Times

Your priest. That’s who you’re supposed to talk to.
Make an appointment to see him in the morning.
You need face to face counseling not help from strangers on the internet.
We can certainly pray fro you though.

Please speak to your Priest and seek professional psychiatric counselling as well. You may require regular sessions and/or medication.

90% of people who seek exorcisms from Priests have mental health issues and do not require a exorcism.

Ask your Priest if he knows of a practicing Catholic who is also a psychiatrist.

  1. If you’ve got any holy water or blessed sacramentals around the house, now would be a good time to use them. Whether it’s a physical health problem, a mood problem, or an attack by the baddies, a sacramental is a good thing.
  2. Yes, talk to a priest soon.
  3. St. John of the Cross says somewhere that a person experiencing spiritual difficulties will probably feel a lot better after consulting the right person, ie, a priest. This seems reasonable!
  4. If a spiritual book is a little too advanced for you, or is emotionally too close to the bone for you at the moment, it can stir up feelings that are uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether these strong feelings are natural or the result of external influences.
  5. Get some sunlight if the day is nice. That can help. Grace builds on nature.

Not a psychiatrist! They make money from telling you, that you are ill. If you aren’t already then there is a chance you might be by the time you leave their office.

A priest is a decent person to start with, as suggested. Do mention St. John of the Cross to him - the part about the ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ might be worth checking out if you haven’t already - and that you think you have oppression, some mental instability and indications of scupulosity. And don’t focus on satan in the meantime because that is what he wants. Read prayers of saints as they ease the heart. And to combat an aversion to prayer that can take hold on occasion, especially when praying the Rosary - which satan evidently hates and so might try and stop you from praying - also try praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet, more than once during the day; reason being, amongst the spiritual benefits of the prayer, is that it is quick to pray. Exposition attendance. I wouldn’t delay in making an appointment with a priest - chin up, and go visit.

Praying for you and your struggles. You are not alone. God is with you, always. Just call his name. See your priest. Immediately.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I never heard that one should use vulgarity. The name of Jesus, Mary, and other prayers will help.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

This is the best advice given so far. Please do not listen to friardchips but to Sirach who says
38 Give doctors the honor they deserve, for the Lord gave them their work to do.[a] 2 Their skill came from the Most High, and kings reward them for it. 3 Their knowledge gives them a position of importance, and powerful people hold them in high regard.
4 The Lord created medicines from the earth, and a sensible person will not hesitate to use them. 5 Didn’t a tree once make bitter water fit to drink, so that the Lord’s power** might be known? 6 He gave medical knowledge to human beings, so that we would praise him for the miracles he performs. 7-8 The druggist mixes these medicines, and the doctor will use them to cure diseases and ease pain. There is no end to the activities of the Lord, who gives health to the people of the world.
9 My child, when you get sick, don’t ignore it. Pray to the Lord, and he will make you well. 10 Confess all your sins and determine that in the future you will live a righteous life. 11 Offer incense and a grain offering, as fine as you can afford.[c] 12 Then call the doctor—for the Lord created him—and keep him at your side; you need him. 13 There are times when you have to depend on his skill. 14 The doctor’s prayer is that the Lord will make him able to ease his patients’ pain and make them well again. 15 As for the person who sins against his Creator, he deserves to be sick.

Thank you for your prayers. I think things have gotten a lot better. I finally did what God wanted me to do, and while there was resistance, God’s grace enabled me to get through it and come out the other end. I still intend to speak to my priest, but I want to thank all of you for your prayer.

There are many forms of demonic attack. They can be thwarted by God’s grace. I join others in prayer to free you from this attack, and also tell you that seeing a priest is the first step. Seeking reconciliiation will clar the path of grace to God for you. If things persist, call you diocese office and ask for the exorcist in your area. They have a screening process for yo to go through, but don’t worry; God’s power wielded by a priestly intercessor will relieve you of this oppression. Seek the help suggested here.

Remember,
O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help or sought thy intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins my Mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful;
O Mother of thy Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen
