How do you compromise? It’s murder or it’s not. There is no middle ground, This Democrat, Catholic office holder seems to think there is.

*“As a Democrat, I do not often find it easy to talk with other Democrats about our need to affirm our commitment to the respect for life and how we need to emphasize our party’s firm belief in the worth of every human being,” he said. “As a Catholic, I do not often find it easy to talk with other Catholics about my feeling that abortion should and will remain safe and legal, and that we should instead focus our efforts on creating a better world where there are fewer unplanned pregnancies and where women who face unplanned pregnancies receive greater support and where men take more responsibility for their actions.”

*Besides going against the Church on abortion, he plans to push birth control. As they say, read the whole article.

This politician has not done his homework. Google “abortion statistics” and there are many studies, some by government agencies, that indicate the reason for abortion. This is not a mystery. As to “women need more support” the reality is that there IS plenty of support but PP gets to many of them first. The inconvenience factor is the real reason for abortion and abortion providers who make a living from this procedure have no vested interest in promoting alternatives.

I think our friendly politician is just trying to sit on two sides of the fence. OTOH I do applaud the focus on positive alternatives to abortion and I believe the more women who know about these alternatives, the fewer abortions.

One point that was interesting is that women’s morals are questioned regardless of whether they abort, adopt or keep their babies. The perceived BENEFIT of abortion is that it remains a secret whereas a baby is pretty obvious. Certainly for those who
want no one (but God) to know about their actions, abortion remains the choice. What is necessary is to let them see the real face of abortion and maybe they will realize they are killing for convenience

Apparently, as a human being, he does not often find it easy to think much…

A classic case of a politician talking out of both sides of his mouth, revealing that he truly stands for nothing, and all the while playing the victim. It’s so hard for him to talk with fellow Catholics and fellow Democrats… When has a politician ever found it difficult to talk? 😛
