As Catholics we should be hanging our heads in shame for allowing so many fellow Catholics - even within our own families, not just the parish - to continue to delude themselves that ABC and abortion are ok so long as one’s conscience is clear about the decision to avail themselves of either. As Catholics IMHO we should hang our heads in shame for allowing this to happen. The Catholic vote could have stopped this from happening. But, if we added those that call themselves anti-abortion or pro-life this is a travesty.
We will reap only what we sow and this time it is death to many more children.
THAT is our biggest battle, people…not legislation, not politics.
We have to start from the inside out…as we get our own to understand and accept the wisdom of the Church’s teaching the demand for ABC and abortion will decline significantly, no longer making the business profitable.
The attempt to solve the problem through politics and the courts was a valiant effort. It resulted in balancing the supreme court and in getting prospective laws heard and discussed. But that path has been closed off at least until 2008…so I say we need to redirect our efforts to developing Catholic education programs for our parishes to teach about Theology of the Body, Humanae Vitae and to distribute materials from Priests for Life. Since the teachings will be Catholic, parishes won’t lose their tax-exempt status because this isn’t about politics anymore…it’s about getting the Good News out to our own from our own.
It’s time to start good ripples from which the tidal wave will come.
