Demographics and Statistics

I’ve been thinking about asking this for awhile now, but just recently I’ve gotten into a discussion on a secular forum regarding contraception so now I really could use this.

I would like statistics on the Traditional Catholic movement, Catholics in general, Christians and religious people in general, as well as stats that show the negative effect of contraception on the population and economy. Any other articles and information would also be helpful, but please try to keep everything as mainstream and neutral as possible as I’ll be presenting this to secular people.

Have you tried the Pew Center? (Link below). These questions sound pretty much like the kind of thing Pew surveys present in tabular form.
I should add, though, that I’ve never needed to address these specific questions myself. http://www.pewforum.org/

Perhaps a more critical source would be CARA; however, you are likely to have to pay for their research as it is largely not published for the public. It is not that it is being hidden; rather, the work is largely done for the USCCB or at the request of one or more bishops.

And if you are not familiar with them it is Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate.

Additionally, some of it may not align with your categories; for example, there is no real specific category such as Traditional Catholic Movement; rather, there are a series of things which could apply to disparate groups as well as some which are aligned but separate.

For example, it is entirely within reason that there may be Catholics who use NFP in its varying forms who do not consider themselves to be Traditional Catholics; merely faithful ones.

As an additional source, you might look to groups which are pro life; the Catholic Church hardly has that exclusively.
