Demon assigned per person at birth?

I don’t know that I’ve ever heard you are assigned a demon, but I do believe attempts are made to pull you away from good. The closer you get to God, the more difficult they try to make it for you to do good and believe … much like the temptation of Jesus in the desert.

May I politely suggest this seems a tad heavy on the superstitious. According to Magisterial sacramental teaching (as opposed to some extreme, flavour of the month, free lance internet exorcist) the salt and blessed water has no inherent objective efficacy in such spiritual matters whatsoever.
It’s an act of faith claiming this ground, this room, this space for Christ. We dwell in a false dichotomy between the spiritual and the material world in this present age, but the God Who comes to us in a wafer of bread does not hesitate to confer sacramental grace through holy water or salt.

It is good that @berniemcken experienced the grace of Peace. Thanks be to God!

I am still in awe.

The two ways to love God are sacrifice and obedience to His commandments. I think the test is if something brings you closer to God via one or both of these true ways of loving God, then it is authentic. This act of faith using blessed salt has brought me closer to the Eucharist (the holy sacrifice) because it has made me more disposed to receive Him by clearing the obstacles to my obedience. That’s how I see it anyway.

It’s authentic. He has always done everything for me and He continues. I was also finally able to sincerely and properly consecrate myself to Jesus through Mary, after this blessing. Our home has truly been claimed as a domestic monastery for Christ. ❤️

Well that settles it then, must be Magisterial Catholic teaching that the efficacy of sacramentals is not solely due to the faith of the believer.
We as Catholics (are you Catholic, because you don’t sound like it)
Interesting, I was going to ask you the same question.
No I am not a US variety Catholic from the mid or southern states.
Basically let’s just get rid of our crucifixes, our holy water, and all tools the Church gives us because we should not rely on anything but our own faith…
I can see we did not get off first base if you truly believe this is something I would agree with. Lets leave it here, we dont seem to share the same Catholic vocab. Merry Christmas Eve.

No it’s not. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

I was taught that God assigns each of us a guardian angel and that Satan sends each of us a tempter devil. I have no idea how much authority the ‘tempter demon’ idea has, but given that a priest just said he’d never heard of it I may have to reconsider.

I have heard of guardian angels assigned for all of us at birth but not demons…
Merry Christmas!
