Absolutely. I can’t understand why so many people question this. Not only does the Church teach it is real, but every world culture has developed means of preventing or combatting it, and there are numeours very very well documented cases. I would venture to say that there is more documented evidence to support diabolical possession than there is to support evolution, yet everybody believes in that!

Rhetorically, I ask, “is God real?” Also, Jesus didn’t cast out “evil thoughts” or “evil desires” or “evil proclivities” but cast out “demons”. Unlike parables, this is an actual act of Jesus Christ.

Of course demonic posession is real. It is well documented in the bible. Jesus went around casting evil spirits out of many people.
“Be sober, be watchful! For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goes about seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8-9)
Sometimes devils are permitted to enter the body of a person; exercising power over their faculties. This is called diabolic possession. When a person is tormented by devils from without, it is called diabolic obsession.
When God permits the above, it is always with the intent to in some way show His glory, or to punish sin, or to obtain conversions, or maybe just to provide some means for the practice of virtue.
Anyway, in cases of diabolic possession or obsession, the help of the Church must be sought. The Church has received from Jesus the power to exorcise evil spirits.
