Well, some of us tried to warn what would happen if the Democrats won the Congress (which they did).
It’s a gonna happen, folks. A frenzy of pro-homosexual, anti-family legislation. Happy 2007 !! 🙂
Here’s a quote from the article:

"The side-effect of this effort will be to criminalize criticism of homosexual conduct and to violate religious freedom and freedom of conscience."

What criticism of what groups in the US is currently a crime? What reason do we have to believe this will suddenly become the case with homosexuals? What pending legislation makes it a crime to criticize homosexuals?

I note that it is a crime to say all sorts of things in other countries. I am limiting this to the US, just as the author did.

This isn’t really a ‘news’ story. This is an op-ed piece and speculation by someone who is the chairman of a public interest group called the “Traditional Values Coalition”.

It would be one thing if he had actual legislation to point to, but he doesn’t. He simply speculates that since some Democratic candidates received campaign contributions from the Human Rights Campaign, that they are going to flood Congress with pro-gay legislation. If that actually happens, that would be news. But at this point, this op-ed piece is just speculative opinion.

There is passing reference to hate crime legislation. As I understand, there has been such legislation proposed, though the op-ed piece doesn’t reference it directly. There is discussion of that legislation in the Culture of Death forum.

Homosexual rights weren’t even a factor in the election. I believe that the electorate voted the Dems in, not because they wanted liberal policies to be enacted, but because they were displeased with the Republicans. The election wasn’t pro-Democrat, it was anti-Republican.

Just wait, you’ll see…
Well, we have been waiting and waiting. The US has had a long time to criminalize criticism of someone. It hasn’t.

I suppose we could look at the various civil rights struggles of the last 50 years. It’s still not a crime to criticize blacks, women, or people of any race. It’s not a crime to criticize Catholics, Jews, or Indians. Same with handicapped, barbers, and chimney sweeps.

I’m left with the impression that the author’s arguments against homosxuality are so weak he has to dream up something that has no basis in reality. And the sad part is that some folks are eager to accept what he says.

Well, the HRC doesn’t dole out millions to candidates unless it knows or is reasonably sure they are going to work - hard - to promote their agenda. I am very familiar with the gay press - you can pick up the gay newspapers free in kiosks in downtown Miami - and they want any speech critical of homosexuality silenced as “hate” speech, even biblical teaching.

These modern Democrat politicians (and shamefully some Republicans too, like Ahhhhhhhhhnold) do not believe in the inspiration of the bible. They believe in the gay agenda.
Even the ones who falsely claim to be Catholic.
It’s a case of “give 'em an inch and they’ll grab a mile.”

Just wait. It’s only a matter of time.

Many people want things to be done, and many are quite willing to use the government to silence their opposition. There are some Catholics that want speech contrary to Church teaching silenced. In the past some used the stake to enforce this.

Others want any racial criticism criminalized. Some think any criticism of diversity should be silenced.

The fact that some people want something means little. We can find niche newspapers that have all kinds of weird ideas. Is a thinking person to accept that whatever is printed in a fringe newspaper will eventually happen? Why?

I’d say the author of the article is another poorly educated charlatan trying to make a buck off the gullible.

Follow the money. Look at the billionaires and multimillionaires who write out checks for a million plus to Democrat Party lobbying groups. Look at the industries they represent. The party isn’t going to pay attention those who gave it Congress?

Actually, while I don’t agree at all with racial criticism, it is perfectly legal under the law for your company to fire you because of your beliefs about race, whether expressed on or OFF the job.
This is “thought-crime” and it is perfectly legal under the law.
My company practices it, and they say so on their diversity handout.

My company also promotes the homosexual lifestyle with a vengeance. And it, too, is protected by our Diversity policy, meaning that if a gay person finds your criticism of gay sex offensive, whether ON or OFF company time, you can be fired for holding such views, even though your disapproval of gay sexual activity is based on scripture. This too, is thought-crime. My company practices it, and the fired person has no legal recourse, because it is perfectly legal.

Unless godfearing people want to live under such conditions, it is time we rose up en masse and forcibly, if necessary, put an end to this political correctness and “thought crime.” We need to organize like the civil rights leaders of the 60s, be militant, and refuse to take “no” for an answer until such laws permitting this Orwellian behavior are stricken from the books. Otherwise, the situation is going to get worse, much worse.

This is known as employment at will. The employer is free to employ whomever he chooses for whatever reason he chooses. Certain reasons like race are carved out of that doctrine, but it largely stands intact. It is used by the Catholic Church to discriminate against women and Wiccans who apply to be priestsor other direct church functionaries.

But, while the company may fire someone for expressing views contrary to company policy, that same person can then stand outside that company with a picket sign and bullhorn expressing those same views. Likewise, the woman rejected for the priesthood can stand outside the cathedral with her sign and bullhorn.

I’ll be heading for the bookstore this afternoon. I expect the same small group of Chistians will be outside with their cross, pamphlets, and bullhorn.

Sounds like you need to find another job that suits you. I have a great job at a company that employs many homosexuals. I am not afraid of them. Some are part of the management team. No one is promoting anything. We have jobs to do.

What conditions are you referring to?

It’s happening now in Canada and could happen here. In Canada, a person could just calmly but publically proclaim the Church’s teaching on homosexuality and be accused of a hate crime…I kid you not.

Picture this - you’re walking down the street in your neighborhood and a car full of guys pull up, and shout “fag” at you, throw stuff at you and speed away. Then, come back around again, get out of the car and surround you asking if you’re gay, calling you every name in the book, pushing you, spitting on you, getting up in your face then finally decking you in the stomach. As you writh in pain you ask yourself why that happened…this has happened to me and many of my friends…and not just once.

I live in a predominantly gay neighborhood and to think that these punks (a) know that and (b) choose to come out here and do that? It begs to question their motive.

It can be easy to talk of this subject from your point of view but until you experience that kind of selective and intentional malice, I don’t think one can ever understand that kind of hate.

They may have been trying to punish the Reps… but what they ended up doing is punishing the citizens of the USA.

The Church does not discriminate against women… where did you think up that lie?

.
Please cite a specific case of a Catholic Church official, on authority of the Church–not the government, putting someone at the stake and burning the person for speaking contrary to the Church. Please cite me the victim’s name.

I am not saying it has not happened. You say it has. Please prove it with a concrete name of perpetrator with Church authority to execute someone and the victim’s name and what the victim said.

Thank you
