But what you have concluded: therefore the Lutheran Church is simply another Catholic church, is way off. Way off.

It is absurd to claim that there is a group of Catholic churches loyal to the Bishop of Rome, and another group of Catholics who don’t have to submit to the Bishop of Rome.
As a non-Roman Catholic (bear with me, PR), I’d say that it’s not mad to claim that we can be Catholics not in communion with Rome. You seem, EC, to be suggesting that Rome is already recognising this possibility. That’s clearly not the case.

Your case is strong, but you’re over-stating it. On this issue I’d suggest (if you’ll permit me) to listen to your Lutheran co-religionists. You are catholic, you are in some kind of communion of the baptised with Rome, but you are clearly not yet in full communion, and there is obviously much work still to be done for visible unity to be attained. Let’s all be clear and agree that this is the case?

Your commentary, as usual, lacks any source of authority yet you claim to represent Catholics. It appears that you are out of step with your Church and yet are a forum “elder”.

I ask again, please show me where I am wrong beyond your claim that all other Lutheran posters on CAF disagree with me.

Getting off-topic…

Agree completely. And pray for unity.

Wait a minute – what are you saying here? That there were actually 24 apostles, but we only know of 12?
Not at all. I’m just saying 12 isn’t a huge number for me to assume that just because out of such a small number that none out of 12 were women, it then follows women can’t be pastors. I’m simply unable to take that leap of faith. That’s all I’m saying.

I wasn’t there to know if Jesus even had gender on his mind when choosing 12 and that if he had chosen more than 12 that the next several would not have been women.
You didn’t have to be there to know. We have the word of God to tell us that he chose 12 Apostles and that they were all Men.

And we don’t have to know what Jesus had on his mind, if he wanted to reveal what was on his mind he would have done so. I am sure if Jesus felt he needed more then 12 he would have done so. Simply because Jesus is God and is perfect.

Do you know the significance of why Jesus chose 12, and why they were male, and why there were no women? I’m not being snarky here, just curious.

How about the reason that Women can’t be Priests is because Jesus instituted the Sacraments and one of them was Holy Orders.

Holy Orders is the Sacrament where Men become Priests instituted by Christ. If Christ wanted women to become Priests there would be a Sacrament for women to become Priests. But there is not.

How can a women become a Priest and receive the power to change the bread and wine into the living bread that comes down from heaven if there is not a Sacrament or Power given to the Bishops to do so?
