When I am in church now, I know I am in the presence of our Lord.
I love my new Catholic faith now so much.

I have just been pretty disappointed in my parish’s welcoming me into the church. I have been going to RCIA classes and will be joining the church on Easter, but after my classes I will look for another parish.

Hey Ted! Welcome to the church brother! That is fantastic that you will be coming into full communion this Easter. I am sympathetic toward not being in a very “warm” parish. Always remember this though: the Catholic faith is truly God cnetered and not pastor or people centered. What I mean is, even if you are in a parish with “cold” people or a “bad” priest, the faith is still the same. When I was a protestant, we, like many other protestants, would “shop around” for a new church if we disagreed with the pastor. In the Catholic church we don’t have to look for another denom just because we have a crummy pastor- the truth remains the same! I hope this makes sense. And WELCOME !!

Well, to put it in a kind way, lets go back to the Last Supper, the first Mass. Who was the Apostle who left early? Judas the traitor. Now I do not now if it is sinful but it does show a lack of devotion and reverence to Our Lord Jesus Christ! Do we want to be like Judas? After all God did create us and redeem us… can we not give him a few hours once a week? Can we not stay 10 minutes after communion? God bless!

Sorry to disagree Mosher. Sin does not mean “missing the mark”. See the definition below.
But I think you missed the part where I agree that motive is a big factor and if habitual (due to simply wanting to get to the ball game on time, etc.), then one may need to confess this.

Otherwise , I still say when done with a sound reason is not a sin.

The term sin that is still used by the Churchis that defined by the Ancient Greeks which means literally “missing the mark” it is the actual meaning of the word. The point, however, is this. If it is not a virtue it is a vice and if it is a vice it is a sin so some degree.

The funny thing is that at my parish there is actually a greeting committee that is charged to meet all new members of the parish. When I officially joined this parish they called me and I would let them come over. I find that type of stuff annoying.
