I know I ask the same questions over & over. I simply do not understand. Some people are intelligent, independent, logical, emotionally stable, social, confident and can handle the truth and blows of life quite well. Why would they need God? Some people are intelligent enough to argue against a lot of the Catholic issues they disagree with. The sins they commit are not “grave enough” to cost them their lives, reputation or other peoples lives. They seem better than a lot of the churchgoers I know. Their lives are well-put together. Surely, they have their moments of human error but nothing dramatic.

Is God only there for those who cannot take care of themselves well? And why can’t all people be ideal person - intelligent, independent, kind, reasonable, logical, emotionally stable, social, confident, tough-skinned?

I understand we all have weaknesses and infirmities. Some are more grave than others. It is difficult not to believe that people’s worth does not depend on what they can do for society.

Just when people begin to think they don’t need God is when thing go horribly wrong.
Everyone needs God. We don’t know why some people “appear” to have it easy. We can’t really know what is going on in their lives. Witness all the times there is a crime and neighbors and co-workers say “he was such a great guy, seemed to have it together”.
Don’t make the mistake of equating success with blessings or “need” of God.
We need God because He created us. He is our Father, Jesus our brother.
It’s the relationship that matters the most.
Sin causes the problem. And the only way to overcome sin is through that close relationship with God. NO one can do that alone.

God is there for everyone. We all have a fallen nature with tendency to sin, and Jesus Christ is the remedy. The more I get into prayer and the sacraments, the more I am aware of the tendencies of my fallen nature, and how much I need the Lord.

Some people may appear to “have it all together” but do feel stress when a big challenge comes their way. Some people live thinking that this life is all there is and choose to ignore looking deeper. People of faith can befriend them with encouragement and hope. The grace of God can accomplish all things!

Some subtle and harder to detect. While others are apparent. Why does one person tell white lies? While another murders? I cannot comprehend why some people seem to prone to public sins that demand corrections, while others are prone to personal, private sins that only God sees.

Yes you need God.

You need to love God to get to heaven. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul, etc… How can you love God if you don’t get to know him?

And since he loves us more than we love ourselves, and is smarter than all of us put together, why wouldn’t we do what he says is good for us?

God isn’t there to make our lives easy. God is here to help us get to heaven. And the gates of Heaven are shaped like a cross. The path to Heaven is a path of suffering, voluntarily offered back to God. Those who have no suffering in their lives will have much more in their next lives.

It doesn’t matter if we know or not.

People sin because of selfish desires. Putting ourselves before God.
