Hi, depression lurks over me like a cloud and i am being bombarded with suicidal thoughts. I know you go to hell if you commit suicide but I still feel suicidal. I was thinking about suicide alot. I have been in phsyciatric hospitals every year of my teenhood
but when i found jesus then it went away. Now it is back and I feel it is because I have slipped away from God with disobediance and an evil heart. I am also self righteous and not eating right.

Please ask Jesus to save all people that are suicidaL from the fires of hell
and to save me from suicide

p.s. i depression a sign that your life isn’t right with God? can you still be right with God and be depressed?

Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the power, the kingdom and the glory,
Forever and ever,
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death
Amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son
And to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
Is now, and shall be forever
Amen.

Remember that you are not alone and that you Guardian Angel is always with you. Catholics believe that everyone has a God given Guardian Angel.

Angel of God, Guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard,
To rule and guide.
Amen

God Bless

Depression is an illness. Although there are many things that can affect your mental health in many cases the illness is biological. It has nothing to do with being ‘righteous’ or being punished by God. Those kinds of thoughts are typical of a person with faith who is depressed. God is not punishing you, and unless your behaviour is causing you to feel depressed (i.e. you’re drinking, taking drugs, abusing others, abusing yourself etc) it is not a result of your actions. If your behaviour is causing regret and anger at yourself then say an act of contrition (one of the Catholic prayers) and try not to repeat it, seeking help if necessary to get treatment and to avoid the occasions of sin. God understands that we are sinful, that is why he sent His son to save us. In your heart you know this, but depression is clouding your mind.

Think about gentle Jesus, meek and mild. think about that great verse in Matthew that tells us to go to Him and lay down our burdens. He knows all about our suffering - He becam human remember and suffered tremendously.

As long as you are doing your best by trying to live a healthy life (and that includes eating right!), taking medical advice and seeking Jesus then there is no reason to think that you will not recover. This too shall pass.

Be kind to yourself.

God Bless

I will pray for you. I am no professional, but in my humble opinion you must be zealous in your search for help. Go at once to your priest. NOW!! Tell him what you have written here. Schedule an appointment NOW!! Waste no time. Have the courage to do so. You are in my prayers. Post updates as well. I want to know what the priest recommends. God be with you.

Hi, depression lurks over me like a cloud and i am being bombarded with suicidal thoughts.
I’ve been there, hdog. It was suicidal thoughts (and even an attempt in the past) that in part has brought me to the beginning of my own spiritual journey. I have struggled with depression and feelings not not just low, but zero self-worth throughout my life, and it turned me towards several self-destructive paths. I only hope that we all may be worthy of Christ’s love and that He may aid us in shouldering our burdens.
Please ask Jesus to save all people that are suicidaL from the fires of hell
and to save me from suicide
Lord, for those of us who yearn and are empty
And who have fallen under the temptation of self-annihilation
Fill us up
Restore meaning to us
Make us whole.
Lord, please, in your mercy
Take up a share of the burdens placed upon us
As we falter
Remove our fears and our doubts
As you removed the sin of the world by your sacrifice.

Of course you can. Depression is not “evil” – it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Talk with your priest or pastor for a spiritual perspective, and talking with a therapist will aid you immensely in the psychological realm.

I think you can be with God and still tested by depression yes. However, I believe it does lessen the symptoms. I myself, suffer from depression, however I don’t treat it. I have had the same thoughts as you have many times. Never could bring myself to do it. Maybe it’s just me, I doubt it however, but there was/is always a voice in my head. It states that things that I know I should handle, yet do not always handle. I take that as God speaking to me. Those things that I hear in my head, are the things that get me most depressed. My wife’s medical disorder, knowing I may well be extremely poor my entire life due to my wife’s medical issues. Oldest son was put through hell growing up, no thanks to me and his mother we are divorced.

I find that once I face my demons head on, do the things I know I should do, or at least attempt to do them, my depression lessens. Devote yourself to Christ again, and a faith, even if not Catholic.

Find things to keep yourself busy in the Church, whether you may normally go. Throw yourself into it, and prayers will be answered.

I have no doubt that you, yourself, know the things you should do, simply don’t do them. I am the same way, so you are not alone.

Peace be with you.

Matt/Ten

hdog,

There is little we know about your situation, so it is difficult to recommend a course of action. I have found the term “depression” to be terribly imprecise; it is a kind of final common pathway for a multitude of situations and thoughts that lead to the illusion of a lack of hope. Many of us have been in this same hole, but chances are good that we got there in different ways, and get out in different ways. The exit involves truth, but how to apply it in your situation only you can figure out, with help from a good priest guide.

If you seriously - I mean seriously - want to be done with depression, and you believe in God, the devil and the spiritual world, you might read a book by Neal Lozano, “Unbound”, and see if it applies to you. You have little to lose, given the going rate for psychologists and psychiatrists these days (and most of these guys almost certainly do NOT take the spiritual world seriously).

May the Holy Spirit be with you, Tim

hdog ~

you can always repent, come back to Christ, ask His pardon and help, and keep following Him. He loves you- He doesn’t want you in hell, depressed, or ending a life He can use and uplift in and for Himself.

depression and suicidal thoughts are certainly a sign that all is not well in your life spiritually. take a deep, careful, and honest look at your thoughts, habits, and tendencies. tell the Lord about your sins, worries, and concerns.

Christ can fix anything, and heal anyone. He’s already defeated the enemy, and everything he stands for- the Devil is just biding his time at this point. there is always refuge and life in Christ, friend. don’t throw your life away because of temporary feelings or troubles. you only get one life, and once it’s gone, you’re not getting it back this side of eternity.

chose to live, for Christ, in Him, and because of Him. because He lives, you can live too. remember that, many prayers, and God’s grace to you.

Please seek the help of your doctor and rule out any medical condition.
Praying for you …

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
