Will you please pray for me? Depression and social anxiety are ruining my life. It is really difficult feeling like you annoy everyone and that you are a burden. I hate feeling like I have no friends. I’m so tired of this. I just want to be normal.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

†

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Dancer, I will pray for you. Are you in a position to talk to a doctor and/or psychologist about this? Medication can help, as can counseling to find out the root cause and learning to react differently. And also there are physical conditions that can cause depression and anxiety. Thyroid problems come to mind, but I think there are others, too.

One thing that you could try starting right now is giving up gluten and casein. No wheat, rye, barley, cheese, milk, butter, yogurt, etc., or food additives made with these things. It is easiest to just stop eating processed food entirely and focus on fruit, veggies, nuts, and meat. Any processed food needs to be gluten free and casein free.

Some people (myself included) have eliminated or greatly decreased depression and anxiety by this means. There are different mechansims proposed by medical science as to exacly how gluten and casein can cause depression and anxiety, but the bottom line is that there is anectodal evidence that ths can really help some people, and the idea is supported by medical science as well. Try it for 2 months and see if you feel better. Apparently it can take that long for all the offending molecules to leave your system, but I saw results in about 2 weeks. If it doesn’t help, then you lost nothing and at least are able to eliminate one possible cause.

Dancer 1409, I’m sorry you’re feeling depressed and like you have no friends. I know exactly how that feels and there are days when you feel like it will be like this forever but it won’t. Don’t lose hope. I’ll say a prayer for you and if you need a friend, then I can be your friend 🙂

If I were you, I’d SERIOUSLY consider seeking professional help. Often both depression and anxiety respond well to meds and you will feel so much better after a month or so, that you’ll wonder why you waited. If you had a broken leg you’d seek medical help, right? You wouldn’t just let it heal however in any position. If you had diabetes, you’d seek medical help–and I’d bet you’d take insulin daily if you had to. Depression is often caused by an imbalance of certain hormones like seratonin in your brain–and once that is fixed, you will feel great! There is no shame in seeking mental health help. Sometimes even verbal therapy is enough!

Praying for you.

Memorare

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Praying that the Lord may grant you strength and relief from depression. Also praying for suitable guidance for you.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Prayers said for relief from depression. May you receive appropriate medical treatment and counseling if needed for these issues. May God bring you some comfort and peace.

God Bless,
Mary.

A prayer against depression by St. Ignatius of Loyola

O Christ Jesus
When all is darkness
And we feel our weakness and helplessness,
Give us the sense of Your Presence,
Your Love and Your Strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
In Your protecting love
And strengthening power,
So that nothing may frighten or worry us,
For, living close to You,
We shall see Your Hand,
Your Purpose, Your Will through all things.

Amen

Dancer, I could have written this post myself. You are not alone.

First, a saying my therapist told me when I was sixteen and you’ve probably heard a million times before— “God helps those who help themselves.” I don’t mean to be cheesy, but God doesn’t want you to suffer alone. Great men and women have worked so hard to bring up wonderful medications for psychological issues. There are SO MANY compassionate counselors waiting to speak to you! I highly encourage you to reach out for help and support. As someone suffering from lifelong depression, let me be a cheesy grown-up and say “it gets better” and there are options.

Secondly, I will pray for you. You carry a very heavy burden but you are not alone in your suffering.

O beautiful Flower of Carmel, most fruitful vine, Splendor of Heaven, holy and singular, who brought forth the Son of God, still ever remaining a Pure Virgin, assist me in this necessity. O Star of the sea, help and protect me! Show me that Thou art my Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee!

Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially those for whom we pray.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will.

Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.
We ask this through Christ our Lord who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.

So much depends on how God views you not others. Stive not to please those around you but your creator God who sent his dear Son, Jesus to suffer and die for YOU. He loves you beyond your understanding and desires your best, who IS your best friend!! Trust in Him alone and grow in faith. This faith and trust in Him as Lord of your life will give you the confidence to be ALL God desires for you!! My prayers for you to realize this love. Go to Adoration and ask Jesus to baptism you with His Holy Spirit and desire to serve you and amazing love will flood your soul to serve Him and be content in Him.

I’m trying but as of right now there is no way to get any medication. I have seen a therapist before though.

I have no way to get medication right now but I have seen a therapist. She was very secular though and our views were not compatible. I have no access to anyone else.

It’s a lot easier to blame Him than feel His love. I am really working on it though.

I am defiantly trying but due to the anxiety I have never had a job even though legally I am an adult I still live with my parents. They don’t agree with medication, even though I feel like that would be the best way to go right now, and I do not have money to see a counselor other than the one at my college who is very secular and I don’t think we get along as well as a therapist/client should.
