I have a depressive personality. I have a depression every couple of weeks.

This is affecting my career more than anything. I get depressed and loose interest in whatever I’m doing. I find that being self employed works better for me because I can work around my depressions better. But still, the main part of my self-employment income comes from two or three month contracts here and there. Then, my depresison gets in the way and spoils everything. Most of the times I get to manage my contracts through depression but they have to be short. As a side effect, I’m broke and professionally frustrated.

I would like to know if there is anyone out there in a similar situation and how you do to deal with it.

Thank you

Have you sought professional help?
Your depression may have a chemical basis, and/or it might be psycholigically based. It’s worth finding our what you can and seeking professional advice and help.
My husband suffers depression that radically affected his ability to work.

I’ll keep you in my prayers

Yes, get help.

I’d also recommend getting checked for ADD. I’ve been depressive for years, but only recently was diagnosed with ADD, and am now on meds that really help me concentrate, even when I’m depressed.

Depression isn’t just a “personality”… it’s a medical condition that should be treated as such. See a doctor for help.

My prayers will be with you…

Please see a medical health professional to determine an appropriate course of action.
