Why Homeland Security Raided the Diocese of Jackson
 
A slight thread drift and by no means a comment on the situation of the priest or the diocese in Jackson, but doesn’t this illustrate how convoluted our federal government has become. Certainly this seems like a valid issue to be investigated by the Department of Justice/FBI, but Homeland Security, which was created to help defend us from future terrorists attacks. Do we really need so many overlapping federal law enforcement agencies?
 
You’ll get no argument from me that the federal government has grown and sprawled well beyond the bounds of anything that the founding fathers envisioned; however, I believe the reason DHS is involved in this situation is because the priest is a foreign national from Mexico and Imigration and Customs Enforcement is an agency that falls under the jurisdiction of DHS.
