Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles

Can someone give opinions on this mystery. I’ve always seen this mystery pictured as the Apostles and the Blessed Mother, but in the Bible (unless there is another version I’m not aware of) there are many disciples, men and women, present.
What is the significance of singling out the Apostles and the BVM?
 
There are like 120 people in the upper room (BTW, Jewish Tradition says that King David was buried in the lower room of this same building).

There’s not much else I can think of, except the comment that sticks with me. I posted it before:
Acts 2:13 - But others mocking said, "They are filled with new wine."

How Prophetic!!! We hear Jesus saying in the Gospels, “You don’t put New Wine into old Wine Skins for they will burst.” (paraphrasing). And here were have the Apostles, drunk on the New Wine of the New Covenant - or filled with the Holy Spirit. And the Jews, some blind to the teachings of Jesus, still able to utter these prophetic words!!!

IMO…
Because Mary and the Apostles are the key figures in this action.

The Apostles were the priests/bishops ordained by Jesus and Mary is the Mother of the Church, previously prepared for this by the working of the Holy Spirit in her life.

The Church is regarded as “Mother”, thus Mary, in artistic representations of Pentecost, represents the Church.
 
Someone previously posted that 120 was a significant number because it was the minimum number of members needed to start a new Synagogue in the Jewish Faith.
