Dio - Holy Diver

The cover of this always reminds me of the legend of St. Clement being thrown into the sea with an anchor on him (probably just a legend tho).

I don’t usually get that sad any more when musicians die, I pray for them, but Dio’s death really hit me hard. Saw one of his last shows at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Baltimore and had seen him at Wacken shortly before that. He and Lemmy were headlining Wacken for the 20th anniversary show and there was a lot of carping because the promoters didn’t get Metallica or someone the Euros considered more exciting…I think given how things have turned out, they had just the right two headliners (they also had Saxon but fortunately Grandpa Biff is still with us)

I really loved that documentary that came out on Nilsson. What a sad childhood he had.
Also loved the stories about how he met his wife working in Schrafft’s in NYC (which I sadly never got to visit, it was closed by the time I figured out where it was)
