How about a secret tunnel that leads to a secret room. Wouldn’t that be cool?
Hmmmm. OK. My dream house ideas have changed a bit since my kids are almost ready to leave home but here goes.
The house would have a combination of tiled and wood floors. The tiles areas would have heating elements underneath them to keep us warm in the winter. There would be at least some tasteful solar panels to help offset electrical use.
It would have a nice kitchen with granite counter tops (lots of counter space) with one double sink under the window and another “bar” sink somewhere else in the kitchen. There would be room for a full size freezer and there would be either two dishwashers (one for clean, one for dirty) or one with removable storage racks and extra racks so you just remove the clean dishes in a rack, store the rack and dishes, and then pop in a new rack in the dishwasher for the next set of dirty dishes.
There would be a bar with stools or room for a small table in the kitchen area for breakfast.
There would be family room just off of the kitchen so those doing meal cleanup wouldn’t be isolated from everyone. There would be an area in the family room for a computer and space for paying bills and such.
There would also be a small living room and a dining room for big family get-to-gethers.
There would be a laundry room that opened to the back yard (or side yard) so that we could put a doggy/kitty door in it. The laundry room would have a sink in it for hand washing and it would have room for ironing and folding and hanging things to drip dry (over the sink?)
We’d have a three car garage so that we could actually park two cars in it and still have room for bicycles and tools.
The master bedroom would have a sitting area off of it where you could put a desk and maybe a TV but it would be away from the bed. The master bath would have a walk-in shower and a separate soaking tub. There would be a view from the tub of something outdoors that’s pretty but private. The toilet would be in a closed room. There would be huge his and hers walk-in closets. There would be a sliding door or French doors leading to the patio, not too far from the hot tub.
There would be two regular bedrooms, each large enough for two twin beds or a double bed with a large bathroom nearby. Then there would be a second small master bedroom (private bath with walk-in shower) for guests or relatives who might be visiting/living with us.
We’d have a nice outdoor living room complete with a built-in fireplace and outdoor kitchen.
Since the house would be built on a (stable) hillside lot with no homes directly below us there would be a secret passageway from somewhere in the house to an opening at the bottom of the hill. (Actually that kind of describes the lot where we live now but there’s no secret passageway. I’ve been telling my husband for years that we need one.)
