Is it a sin to want to die?
We should not desire to die to escape this life. God gave us our lives to live for Him, to grow in our love for Him, and to be happy with Him forever when the time comes for us to go to Him.Is it a sin to want to die?
Consider that we have been priviledged to have a share in the salvation of sinners through sharing in the sufferings of Jesus. Is it a sin to want to die? ]

I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to die if, as St. Faustina wrote, you desire more than anything to be with God. When nothing in this world has meaning greater than being with God, it is a good desire. However, if someone desires to die to escape troubles in his life or has sunk into depression due to mental or physical disease, that is not a good thing.
Your desire should be to do God’s will, and not your own. What if it’s not a desire of suicide but a desire that God would take my life from me?
Greetings,What if it’s not a desire of suicide but a desire that God would take my life from me?
Even then, a strong desire to see God face to face because we love Him and put Him first, means that we should desire His Will first of all – and that means living out our life for His greater glory, and to go to Him when it is His timing, not ours.Greetings,
As was said above, it would have to do with the reason that you want to die. If you are in despair because of a situation in your life that you want to escape, then you need to seek some help. If it is because you have a strong love for God and want to be with Him for that reason, then I would say its only natural to have a desire to see God face to face. Hope this helps.

Even you ask for this, He might not grant you your wish right away. He wants you to be living for a great purpose. Obviously, God created you for a purpose. Living on Earth is part of His plan for you - you, and all of us, need to ask Holy Spirit to guide us and to help us realize what we are all living for:What if it’s not a desire of suicide but a desire that God would take my life from me?
It seems you have twisted my words. That is why I said strong love for God. When you love someone you aim to please them. If it pleases God that we live our lives here on Earth, then let His will be done. If its our desire to hurry to our death, then we need to examine what is motivating us. Any Christian that loves God is probably awaiting the day when they will see Him as He is, but in Gods time not ours.Even then, a strong desire to see God face to face because we love Him and put Him first, means that we should desire His Will first of all – and that means living out our life for His greater glory, and to go to Him when it is His timing, not ours.
Yes. I didn’t mean to “twist” anything - I was confirming what you said and added a sentence. It seems you have twisted my words. That is why I said strong love for God. Prophet Elijah once asked God the same thing, and God send an angel to ease him. God did not want him to die, so he lived until the time comes, Elijah was taken to heaven in a chariot of fire and become one of few men who has never experienced death at all. What if it’s not a desire of suicide but a desire that God would take my life from me?
