The Bible tells us its ok to desire greater gifts. I would love to see an angel or have a visitation from someone in heaven. I guess it is possible as many Saints have had these experiences. So I prayed at adoration for something like that to happen. Even in a dream, it would be so awesome! Has anyone here ever had a visitation or seen an angel?
I would love to see an angel or have a visitation from someone in heaven.
That is not what is meant by a gift.

Have you ever think about what is God’s plan for you in life? God give each of His children different gifts to carry out His holy will for themselves and others. Not everybody have the ability to see angel and experience special visions.

well we have to grow in virtues instead of running after gifts,as it is said in

I Corinthians 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be uninformed.4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 31 But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.I Corinthians 13:13 So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. and the fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law.

Exactly.
Love and the fruits of the Spirit are more important. But Saint Paul says nowhere to ‘not seek the higher gifts.’
But Saint paul did say in scripture: ‘Seek the higher gifts.’

Then he adds: ‘The greatest of these is love. For if I prophesy, or speak in tongues, or work miracles by faith, but have not love, then I am but a sound.’

He says nowhere: do not seek the higher gifts.

He says: ‘Seek the higher gifts.’
(As is also stated by the Vatican / Pope/ Vatican II, its Vatican Doctrinal Commission into the Catholic Charismatic renewal, -see the links I posted from the Vatican’s ICCR website)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YuHSXg3RxbDj6MuMuCrj5xzL-8MUNPof/view

And Saint Paul then adds: the most important gift is LOVE ☺️

Jesus Himself in scripture says it is possible to have these higher gifts, but through lack of love, to end up in Hell, ‘There will be those who in the end cry out Lord Lord, did we not heal the sick in Your Name, cast out demons in Your Name, etc… but the Lord will reply; ‘I tell you solemnly I never knew you. For I was naked and you did not clothe Me, hungry and you did not feed Me, thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, in prison and you did not visit Me. Whatever you did to the least of your brethren you also did to Me.’

So indeed Charity and Love, are the most important gifts.

But Saint Paul never says don’t seek the higher gifts,
He says: ‘seek the higher gifts.’
And adds: that love and its fruits are the most important.

It is Mystic Gifts (bilocation, stigmata, visions, apparitions etc) that the saints and Vatican Doctrinal Commission into the Charismatic Renewal, state are not to be sought after:

Here is a link to the Vatican’s Doctrinal Commission into the Pope/ Vatican/ Vatican II approved Charismatic Renewal, with an explanation on the higher gifts of the Holy Spirit that St Paul and the New Testament refer to, and how we may pray for the higher gifts that Saint Paul mentions (tongues, prophesy, miracles, deliverance, discernment of spirits, etc) if our heart has love in the right place (love of God and love of neighbour, keeping the sacraments, a holy prayer life etc)

Yes it is common in christian communities.
I have met people and read about their experiences . on the sid Roth its supernatural TV show.
I have gone to the Mary magnification appearing. And observed those with hundreds of other people.
I have found most religious people are controlled and governed by the natural mind. and can’t fuction in christian communities.

I ask the Lord once to see Him as a young child and as a teenager. Very clearly a thought came into my head that said: Don’t you know when you see your grandchildren, you are seeing me? Don’t you know when you are working with teenagers, you are seeing me? Not a vision but the Lord spoke to me. 🎶

That is interesting, because a few months ago I attended a Mass said by Msgr. John Esseff and he told this story that he has also told in interviews about how his mother in the 1950s saw a vision of Christ and Christ had her husband’s face, and the message was that loving your spouse is basically loving Jesus.

I read another story about a young man who went to the site of a recurring apparition in hopes of seeing Jesus and heard a voice in his head telling him that he could see Jesus any time at church in the sacrament of the Eucharist and that he should be going there instead of to the apparition site.

Our Lord desires we all be saints according to His Will for us. Some see visions, etc., but that is not necessary to become holier. We all have different personalities, gifts, and weak points.
The Lord can make a saint out of us if we will it according to His Will.

All true,
The sacraments, commandments, magisterium of the church, Our Lady, prayer, and LOVE come first.
‘Seek yee first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.’

But even with all this; the Popes/ Vatican II/ Vatican’s Doctrinal Commission into the Catholic Charismatic Renewal has said with Saint Paul, we can seek the higher gifts (the charisms of the Holy Spirit), and the Vatican’s Doctrinal Commission say along with the saints: we cannot seek mystic gifts,
