we have a dear friend who has mental disability problems, ADD and bi-polar. In addition he’s not in good physical health. He currently is living on disability, and faces eviction from his apartment in 2 days! From what we can understand, these reasons are mostly accusations from another tenant that are untrue. He did contact a lawyer in legal aid, but this lawyer doesn’t seem to be doing much. We are seniors, and are unable to help him much monetarily, but he has been a good friend and helped us out a lot with different chores. I ask all of you for prayers. He is LDS but we don’t feel that because he is of a different faith than ours, that should matter.

He will be homeless if this occurs and we are at our wits end. I’ve been storming heaven with prayers to both St.Jude and praying the Rosary for this intention. I also plan to offer up a Mass tomorrow and Friday for this intention.

We desperately need prayers for him and also if you have any suggestions that would help to prevent this. Thank you.

Really, it sounds like he is unable to adequately care for himself.

Could you speak to Goodwill? Goodwill works with people with disabilities, mental and physical. They would probably have an idea as to how to proceed.

Goodwill has 2 sections. One is a store. The other has services for people with disabilities. If it is something they can’t handle, they should be able to help refer you to the appropriate community resources.

There is Section 8 Housing, which would probably bump him to the top of the list for being in danger of homelessness.

However, it doesn’t sound like your friend can handle that…make the move, and do all the necessary arrangements.

Really, it sounds like he needs to have some kind of legal guardian who would be responsible for his care. I’m not sure how that would work. That person would need Power of Attorney to be able to make decisions for him, since he doesn’t seem like he can do it for himself.

Sometimes, there are also kinds of “halfway houses”, which are group homes for people with different kinds of disabilities who can’t function on their own, on the outside world.

Can you see about a halfway home for people with mental/physical disabilities in your area?

Good luck, and God bless.

For now, temporarily, there are homeless shelters.

Then, there is long range. The homeless shelter, itself, would probably know which options are available longterm.

For now, he would probably need to go into a local homeless shelter. One could do a Google, try to see which ones have openings.

I am praying for your intentions!

I feel so moved by the situation you describe here. I know from personal experience, (I have been diagnosed as clinically depressed with severe social anxiety disorder,) how very difficult and overwhelming a situation like this can become. It is difficult in ordinary circumstances to function at what is considered a “normal” capacity. When you throw in social and financial issues, it can become nearly impossible when you suffer from these type of emotional/mental issues.

I pray that your friend will find the help he needs to either keep his apartment or find a suitable living situation before he becomes homeless…

May God bless and keep you as well!

Call his LDS bishop. They do help their own.
He hasn’t been to church for four months, and he’s what is called a jack Mormon. That is doesn’t go with all of the things he’s supposed to avoid. One of the things he’s been doing is rolling his own cigarettes outdoors ahich someone accused him or rolling marijuana cigarettes. It also goes by his ward but will try myself to do something.

Praying for this lost soul.

Like others stated, I’d contact LDS. They do help their own out.

What lovely people you are to care for him and what a lucky gentleman he is to have you in his life.

I just said a prayer to St. Joseph for your intention. God bless you.

Prayer to Our Mother of Perpetual Help for Financial Aid

Dear Mother Mary,
We approach thee with submissive and humble hearts,
because we have a child-like confidence in thy power and goodness,
beseeching thee to assist our dear friend in his present financial worry.
We believe, dear Mother, that thou art not only rich and bountiful,
but extremely kind and generous to all thy loving children.
We plead with thee then, dear Mother, to obtain
the help that utah rose’s friend so urgently needs in
his present financial difficulty. We thank thee, dear Lady,
through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Holy Michael the Archangel defend us in the day of battle.
Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host,
by the Power of God,
thrust down to hell satan and all the wicked spirits,
who wander through the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Remember, O most loving Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession and was left forsaken. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, a sorrowful sinner. Despise not my words, O Mother of the Word, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.
Amen
