Thank you all so much for posting this stuff. I’m really inspired. Just one question, ** do you make the sign of the cross after every prayer? Sorry if this is a simple question but i was wondering.** Lol. Thanks 🙂
Emphasis mine.

The sign of the cross is several prayers all rolled into one, and also signifies some visible things;

It is used at the beginning and end of a prayer, a prayer service, and/or mass. It is used anytime you enter the ‘house’ of God, or preparing yourself to draw near to God wherever you may be.

It can be a complete prayer in and of itself. Sometimes, Catholics sign themselves, before venturing into the day, or begin driving anywhere, or just before they participate in anything, sports, job interview, meeting, …basically, anything.

When people see it, they know you to be Catholic!..even though, now in PC language era, they will know you to be Christian. same thing anyway!

You touch your forehead, then your heart (it’s actually centre mass) and then your shoulders (left and right)

As cdaters said, the words you utter are, "In the name of the Father, (and of) the Son and of the Holy Spirit, AMEN."

While you utter these words, the things you ‘touch,’ you are offering to God, in His service. Your mind, your heart, your strength. (Head, Breast, Shoulders)

Many others have different ‘meanings’ or ‘prayers’ to their sign of the cross, but the words and actions show you to be not just any Christian, but Catholic, whether formal or informal.

What I am saying is, that ‘prayer’ is all you need if you mean it, every time, every day! and use those ‘things’ (mind/heart/strength) as you pledge, every day.

Do not rush or be impatient! If God summons you to be Catholic, who can stop it?!! But serve Him in the surroundings you are in, with love of /to your family and understand the He may have need of you where you are! Learn more, do more, LOVE more!

Learn the sign of the cross in Latin, just for good measure.

God Bless

hey guys! Thank you all so much for the tips and encouraging words! I’d really like to learn how to pray the rosary. ( I actually downloaded an app on my phone that has all sorts of prayers and the rosary on it). I’ve learned that while still attending my church, I need to praise god even though I believe my church is not where I belong. I am still gonna continue reading and learning about the catholic church. I am still amazed by the beauty of it. I hope, someday, hopefully in the next couple if years, I can start attendingthe Catholic church in my town and attend classes. Once again, thank you all so much 🙂

Hi Pheeblee123

A big welcome to CAF. Everyone has given you some really good advice, and I’m sure more well follow, at least that’s been my expeinced in this forum.

I, was tought to do the sign of the cross both , before and after prayer. Being hispanic, we also, after doing the sign of the cross, we cross our thumb over our index finger and kiss it. Thiers also other places we do the sign of the cross, several people have already said. And I do like saying it in latin, personal choice, I guess.

May the Holy Spririt continue to help you on your journey.👍👍

Hey Pheeblee123,

I make Rosaries to give away for missions and I am gearing up to make Rosaries to sell online.

If you would like, I will make one for you to help you on your journey. Just PM me your address and I will get started on it for you.

The Rosary is a beautiful tool, a school of prayer, that focuses on the mysteries of Jesus’ life. St. Louis de Montfort (1673-1716) wrote a book called The Secret of the Rosary that has received much praise.
